A new listing for sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is currently one of the most eagerly anticipated games for 2022. However, Nintendo has been playing its cards very close to its chest thus far and not given anything much away about the RPG, including its official name.

When Breath of the Wild released in 2017, it rewrote the rules for a Legend of Zelda title. Gone was the linear gameplay of old, and in place fans were given an open and sprawling Hyrule that could be explored at will. From meticulously upturning every rock to find the entirety of Hyrule’s secrets to heading straight to Calamity Ganon while wielding nothing but a rusty broadsword and a strong constitution, there was no right or wrong way to tackle Breath of the Wild. Even four years after its release, fans are still unearthing many amusing and complex details that have been hidden within Breath of the Wild’s map by Nintendo. And yet, despite this, what players really want is to dive into its sequel, and the chance to find out more about what Link and Princess Zelda have been up to following her release from Calamity Ganon.

While, at the time of writing, there is still very little official information tied to Breath of the Wild 2, there is a new reason for fans to get excited. A previously unseen listing has appeared on Amazon for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2. ittedly, there is not much more information to go along with this listing – there is a tenuous release date of December 31, 2022 mentioned in the product details, but this is clearly to fully encom any date that Nintendo ultimately announces. There is also no box art to accompany this Breath of the Wild 2 listing. Instead, there is merely a blank Switch box with text emblazoned across the front that specifies that the box art is “coming soon.”

Many are hopeful that there will be more official news about The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild’s sequel at the Game Awards. The event’s organizer, Geoff Keighley, recently sparked several rumors that some new BOTW2 gameplay could be getting revealed during the show when he tweeted that he had seen the final cut of a world premiere that The Game Awards had been working on with developers for two and a half years. Fans were quick to surmise that this could be referring to Breath of the Wild 2, which was first announced during 2019’s E3 two and a half years ago.

However, Keighley has subsequently tweeted that there are numerous wrong rumors surrounding The Game Awards currently making the rounds on the internet, perhaps extinguishing many fans’ hopes for a Zelda based reveal. Thankfully, there is not too much longer until the show itself, and any rumors surrounding The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 will either be realized or put to bed for another day.
