Fallout London should pay attention to Rebellion's action RPG because its British take on the post-apocalypse is shaping up to be something exciting. While "end of the world" games are traditionally set in the United States, there are a few gems based in the United Kingdom that have captured the minds of fans around the world. Beyond Fallout London, the underrated ZombiU proved to be an interesting take on the roguelike formula while Hellgate: London gained a cult following for its twisted take on the titular city.

On YouTube, Rebellion shared a release date trailer for Atomfall, its post-apocalyptic RPG set five years after a nuclear disaster in Northern England.

The trailer doesn't give too much away in of gameplay but does serve as an interesting tone piece that also confirms the game will launch on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC on March 27, 2025. The footage is somewhat eerie as it follows the player trekking through a forest, ing by what appears to be a pyre, before stumbling upon an out-of-place phone booth; The Fallout comparison is almost unavoidable.

What Do We Know About Atomfall?

It Looks Like An Absolute Treat

Rebellion has played it safe with its marketing campaign by only showing off enough of Atomfall to get consumers' brains racing. Based on the developer's description of the game, players will be tasked with exploring the fictional quarantine zone to "scavenge, craft, barter, fight, and talk" their way around the various characters and factions milling about the countryside. These groups aren't just trying to get by: During their journey, s will encounter bizarre cults, mystics, and even government agents who have long abandoned their original goal.

Atomfall sounds like it will play closer to a survival horror game than a Fallout-style RPG. Combat is described as being a desperate struggle for survival as equipment and ammo are scarce so players need to make sure that every hit counts. It also seems a little deeper than simply counting bullets as s will need to manage their heart rate and breathing to ensure they have enough breathing to finish off any attackers.

Could Atomfall Be A Win For Xbox?

Let's Hope So

The player hits a masked man with a gigantic mace in Atomfall.

It's no secret that Xbox is in desperate need of a killer app to compete with the PlayStation 5's line-up of major exclusives. While it's released a few decent titles in recent years, none have managed to make Psychonauts 2 and Hi-Fi Rush. I'm optimistic about Atomfall but I also doubt that it will be enough to break out of its specific niche and become a mainstream success.
