The Teen Wolf franchise may be over, but that does not mean that teenage werewolves are done for good. Other series like Wolf Pack and Wolf Like Me have taken up the mantel since Teen Wolf's finale. On top of that, Netflix recently announced a new television series that could be the perfect Teen Wolf replacement. Although the series has a vastly different premise than Teen Wolf, both series focus on adolescent werewolves who are simply trying to balance the lives they want with the lives they are forced to have.

Teen Wolf Season 7: Why The Show Was Really Canceled
Teen Wolf had a loyal following, and fans were shocked when MTV suddenly pulled the plug on it. Here's why Teen Wolf ended after season 6.
Wolf King Could Be A Great Replacement For Teen Wolf
Drew Ferran Is Just Like Scott McCall
In 2025, Netflix is releasing a new animated series entitled Wolf King. The series centers on Drew Ferran, a young man who discovers he is the last in a long line of Werewolves who rule the land owned by the Werelords. Against his better judgment, Drew decides to claim his throne, despite the advances of the Lion lords. Wolf King is a strong replacement for Teen Wolf because Drew's sudden werewolf discovery and newfound responsibility are very similar to Scott McCall's. Like Scott, Drew must forget everything he knew and dive into a supernatural world where he holds unexpected power.

When Teen Wolf ended, this particular approach to the werewolf trope was lost, and now Wolf King could now make up for it. By season 6, Teen Wolf's plots went far beyond teenage drama, and instead, focused on supernatural politics, fighting evil, and being the best leader one could be. While Wolf King seems to lack the high school setting of Teen Wolf, there will likely be plenty of conflict between paranormal groups and learning how to be a good werewolf leader. Drew can follow in the footsteps of Scott in a way no other character has.
Wolf King is based on the Wereworld books by Curtis Jobling.
How Netflix's Wolf King Series Will Be Different From Teen Wolf
Wolf King Has A Different Setting & Format
First and foremost, Wolf King will differ from Teen Wolf due to its animated style. Though an animated Teen Wolf series premiered briefly in 1986, the franchise is usually recognized in live-action, and that is a main point where Wolf King will differ. Furthermore, Wolf King's setting is quite different from Teen Wolf's Beacon Hills. Seemingly, Wolf King will mostly take place in a land where Werewolves and Lions roam freely, whereas Beacon Hill saw both humans and supernatural creatures. All differences aside, Wolf King could be the next project to continue the legacy of Teen Wolf.
