Disney unveils a new glimpse at the Wizards of Waverly Place sequel series, now titled Wizards Beyond Waverly Place. The Disney Channel fantasy series originally ran for four seasons from 2007 to 2012, also producing a television movie and a standalone continuation in 2013. While Selena Gomez's Alex Russo was the leading character of the original series, older Russo sibling Justin (David Henrie) will help lead the Wizards of Waverly Place sequel show when an unexpected arrival brings him back into the magical world.
As revealed during Disney's upfront showcase, the Wizards of Waverly Place sequel series has now been titled Wizards Beyond Waverly Place.
Alongside a new logo and a photo featuring Gomez and Henrie with their wands at the ready, a new cast photo was also revealed, as seen in the above gallery. The cast photo features Gomez and Henrie, ed by Janice LeAnn Brown, Mimi Gianopulos, Alkaio Thiele, and Max Matenko, who portray new protagonist Billie, Justin's wife Giada, and his sons Roman and Milo, respectively.
What Happened To The Russos Following Wizards Of Waverly Place?
Wizards Beyond Waverly Place Will Change Things Up Pretty Quickly
At the end of the original Wizards of Waverly Place, an hour-long episode finally addressed which of the Russo children would inherit their family's magic. While Justin won the title of Family Wizard, Alex's selfless act led to him giving up the title to her, though he would be able to continue to practice magic by taking on the WizTech heaster position. Younger sibling Max (Jake T. Austin) was left to take on the family's sandwich shop business. However, the synopsis for Wizards Beyond Waverly Place may suggest some major changes to this ending.

Disney's Wizards Of Waverly Place Reboot Is Nailing 1 Dynamic From The Original
A Wizards of Waverly Place reboot is currently in the works, and the first image proves that the series is nailing what made the original so good.
Per the synopsis, Justin has left magic behind to start his own family, and is brought back into the fold by Alex calling upon him to help guide Billie in her wizard training. While this change may seem sudden, the 2013 special The Wizards Return: Alex vs. Alex revealed Justin had been too busy with his new role to reunite with his family. With family being the reason Justin was willing to forfeit magic originally, perhaps his heaster role became too much, and he chose to start an ordinary life knowing his family's legacy was safe.
With Wizards Beyond Waverly Place receiving its title, it seems more information about it will be coming out sooner rather than later. The title might just refer to the returning Russos growing up and moving on, but it might also refer to a wider exploration of the world, especially as Billie's mysterious past comes into play. With the series set to air in fall 2024, it may not be long until the Russos return to cause more chaos.
Wizards Beyond Waverly Place will air on Disney+ and the Disney Channel this fall. The original Wizards of Waverly Place and its various spin-offs are available on Disney+.
