Tati Gabrielle's character plays a minor role in You season 4, part 1, so is Marienne returning for You season 4, part 2? Audiences were introduced to the librarian of Madre Linda in You season 3, and it did not take long for her to catch Joe Goldberg's eye. Considering how Penn Badgley's Joe went to Europe at the end of the third season to find her, it was expected that Marienne would play a significant role in You season 4. Gabrielle's character was featured prominently in the marketing, even as new problems arose for Joe.
Among the many surprises to come in You season 4, part 1 is the small role that Marienne plays. She is completely absent from the main story with Joe trying to uncover who the Eat the Rich killer is. Marienne's only presence is through flashbacks to when Joe first arrived in Europe and attempted to track her down. Their reunion did not go as he hoped, though, and left him in a position of contemplating killing her too. Ultimately, his season 3 love interest was only featured in You season 4, episode 1. The surprisingly minor appearance does leave room for Marienne to return in You season 4, part 2.
Marienne Is Not Confirmed To Be In You Season 4 Part 2 (But Could Return)
Netflix has not confirmed that Tati Gabrielle is returning as Marienne in You season 4, part 2. The streaming service has not released an official cast list for part 2, but You season 4, part 1's ending does set up who the main characters will be. The second part of the story will continue to focus on Joe, Rhys (Ed Speleers), Kate (Charlotte Ritchie), and some other surviving of the friend group. You season 4, part 2 is set up to explore Joe's attempt to unveil Rhys as the Eat the Rich killer and attempts to stay out of a romantic relationship with Kate.
Based on the apparent story for the next chapter of Joe's life, there is little room for Marienne to return in You season 4, part 2. That does not guarantee that she will not appear at some point during the next part of the season. Marienne is alive when You season 4, part 1 last shows her, so there is an avenue for her to come back. The more difficult part is figuring out what role she plays in the larger narrative, which could be one reason why Marienne does not return in You season 4, part 2.
You Season 4 Part 1 Gives Marienne A Happy Ending
While there might be a desire to see Marienne again after such a small role in season 4, You did give Tati Gabrielle's character a happy ending through her limited appearance. She is officially safe from Joe's dangerous life after he found her in London but did not kill her. This allowed Marienne to return to Paris to continue her new life as an artist and raise her daughter. If this is the last time that Marienne is seen, she should have a happy life and escape being another You character who dies. You season 4, part 2 bringing her back in any capacity would likely ruin this ending.
