In his almost two and a half decades of making films, Wes Anderson has shown he’s a true auteur. His films almost all show a certain stylistic sense, and it’s driven people to the box office again and again. While his characters are far from one dimensional, it’s inarguable that each and every one has a very strong and very specific personality type.

While you know there are things Monsieur Gustave would never do, you also know things Steve Zissou definitely would. With such clear cut personalities, it makes it easy to figure out which zodiac sign each of them would be.

Aries: Mr. Fox

Fantastic Mr Fox

Maybe instead of a Ram, the sign for Aries should just be Mr Fox. You can’t say he doesn’t have the Aries bravery, sense of adventure, ion, or sense that everything will work out in the end.

He unfortunately also has a whole slew of negative Aries traits- he’s extremely arrogant, impulsive, and something of a loose cannon. If Mr. Fox thinks something is a good idea, he’s going to do it whether he should or not.

Taurus: Etheline Tenenbaum

Anjelica Huston's Etheline Tenenbaum talking to Royal at their house

Etheline is almost the complete opposite of her estranged husband Royal. Down to earth and dependable unlike him, she’s the grounded Taurus her children needed more of.

Her obsession with her children’s education is a playing out of the Taurean look to the future- and maybe a little of the sign’s tendency to stubbornly fixate on things.

Gemini: Sam Shakusky

Sam by a fire in the woods in Moonrise Kingdom.

The orphaned Sam utilizes the Gemini flexibility to try to make his way through a life he can’t quite find the path through during Moonrise Kingdom. He gives it his all with trademark Gemini enthusiasm.

He falls short sometimes because of the Gemini tendency to have a lack of direction and anxiety- something he tries to cover up with his independent attitude.

Cancer: Richie Tenenbaum

Richie Tenenbaum is a typical Crab. Creative and brilliant, he nevertheless relies more on his feelings to make decisions. Letting his emotions rule him leads to the love he feels for his family, but also the feelings he has for his adopted sister Margot.

This all leads to a fair amount of pessimism in his outlook- especially in a family that isn’t the best at feelings.

Leo: Monsieur Gustave

Ralph Fiennes as Gustave

Monsieur Gustave has Leo’s loyalty- even if it’s to the Grand Budapest Hotel. He shows the sign’s energy in his total commitment to making everything there run as smoothly as possible- a never-ending task.

He also has Leo’s ego- he’s convinced that nothing can run without him there to tell it where and how. It’s a task the ego Leo ego helps with.

Virgo: Chas Tenenbaum

Chas Tenenbaum

Chas showed he was a genius early on in childhood, turning out to be a business and math whiz- something the Virgo intelligence and analytical ability surely helps him with.

He’s the typical perfectionist of the sing- everything must be just right. He doesn’t stint on the less savory parts of being a Virgo, either. He’s overly fussy and critical of nearly everything.

Libra: Margot Tenenbaum

The Royal Tenenbaums

The adopted daughter of the Tenenbaums and love interest of Richie, Margot shows her Libraness in her romanticized view of everything and how she lets it shape her whole life.

In some ways, she’s the most tactful in the family. She lets the sign show through with how detached she can be and the resulting laziness.

Scorpio: Steve Zissou

Bill Murray in The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou

Steve goes through many of the positive traits of the sign during his hunt for the shark- his faithfulness to Esteban while looking for the shark, and his focus and bravery in accomplishing the task.

He has the Scorpio tendency to dominate, but he’s pretty open about how he recognizes it. He’s easily hurt by others, and it shows mostly in the form of wondering whether he’s getting too old and washed up.

Sagittarius: Max Fischer

Jason Schwartzman as Max Fischer outside school in Rushmore

Max may pour his intellectual ability into a ridiculous number of extracurricular activities instead of his actual academic work, but it’s still there. He has a very strong opinion of what is right or wrong and goes after it at all costs.

He also tends to be careless, and more than a little overly confident. He also has a bit of a problem with consistency- sometimes he loses his focus on one thing because he gets caught up in another.

Capricorn: Atari

Isle of Dogs

After his beloved dog is sent to Trash Island, Atari steals a plane to get him there to find him, proving he has the Goat ambition.

He also shows the patience and discipline of the sign over and over again while he and his new friends travel the island during the search. He’s quiet and shy, but still shows the Goat’s stubbornness aplenty.
