Travis Kelce's debut in Ryan Murphy's Grotesquerie has been highly anticipated ever since his casting was revealed, and after the TV show's two-episode premiere, his character still has yet to be seen. Grotesquerie follows Detective Lois Tryon (Niecy Nash) and the nun journalist Sister Megan (Micaela Diamond), who assists the detective through an investigation of crimes in their community that are, oddly, personal to both of them. Little is still known about Travis Kelce's role in the story at this time, and the two-episode premiere of the horror drama certainly doesn't give anything new away.

Audiences were surprised when Kelce's character failed to appear in Grotesquerie episodes 1 and 2, despite the hype that has been surrounding the NFL player's role in the new TV show. Despite this temporary disappointment, Kelce's debut on the TV show isn't much further away. For those who want to the Kansas City Chiefs' tight end, or at least cheer on a member of their fantasy football team, here is when Kelce's appearance in Grotesquerie can be expected.

Travis Kelce Is Expected To Debut In Grotesquerie Episode 3

His Role Is Teased In Episode 3's Preview

Thankfully, Murphy knows not to keep audiences waiting too long for Kelce's debut, with the end of the two-episode premiere itself tipping viewers off to when his first appearance can be expected. The preview for Grotesquerie episode 3 features Kelce's character, which seemingly confirms that his debut will take place next week. Though there wasn't too much given away in this preview, the way that the story is falling into place along with the few details known about his role can help to inform what viewers can expect from the football player's first major acting role.

What We Know About Travis Kelce's Grotesquerie Character

Only Sparse Details Are Currently Known

Kelce, Murphy, and the rest of the Grotesquerie cast and crew have certainly kept details about Kelce's character under lock and key, but there are still a few sparse details about the character he will be bringing to life in this murder-thriller. Variety described his as-of-yet unnamed character as a "charming - if not p*rny - bed nurse." Any details aside from this simply come from Kelce describing his experience on the show and his excitement for what's to come, in addition to Murphy's words about what it was like to coach him in the acting field rather than the football field.

Whoa, I Did Not Expect Travis Kelce's First TV Show To Be So Dark

Ryan Murphy's horror TV series Grotesquerie is Travis Kelce's first major acting role, but I wasn't expecting it to be so dark and intense.

Murphy revealed during a press conference (via Deadline) that he was willing to "specifically write [the role] and tailor it" for Kelce after the football player expressed heightened interest in becoming a serious actor. This means that, whatever role Murphy ended up writing for Kelce, it was likely based very much on either who Kelce is in real life or who Kelce may have expressed interest in playing. Based on Kelce's reality TV past, it can be expected that his "charming" character is no doubt capitalizing on that which Kelce already naturally possesses.

One of the most interesting hints about Kelce's character, however, came from his podcast with his older brother Jason Kelce, New Heights. The former center of the Philadelphia Eagles posed a question to his younger brother while they discussed the show, asking, "Are you [Kelce's character] even alive?" Kelce responded to this question with an amused response of, "Are any of us alive, Jason?" Kelce continued this teasing after his brother brought up Bruce Willis and The Sixth Sense for comparison, saying, "It might be a little that." ittedly, however, this could have simply been a case of brotherly teasing.

Travis Kelce's Grotesquerie Role Needs To Be More Than A Marketing Trick

Kelce & New Viewers Deserve More Than That

At the end of the day, the most essential part about Kelce's role in Grotesquerie is that it becomes more than a simple marketing trick to get people to tune in. While Murphy himself certainly has no problem drawing in an audience, the heavy advertising for Kelce's own role has drawn in a whole new slew of viewers. It would simply be a disservice to that audience for Kelce's role to succumb to mere marketing tactics, and for the immense praise he's received from fellow cast and crew to be nothing more than a selling point.

Based on the severity with which Kelce has seemingly approached this role, however, this thankfully seems unlikely. Even with Grotesquerie's release taking place in the midst of Kelce's football season, with him fully dedicated to continuing the Chiefs' undefeated run this year, Kelce has continued to promote the show the best he can - which alone seems to prove that his role is much more than a mere cameo. Only his debut in Grotesquerie episode 3 will be able to prove this, which leaves audiences waiting one more week to see what they can expect from him.

Grotesquerie episodes 3 & 4 will air on FX at 10 PM ET on Wednesday, October 2, and will be available on Hulu the next day.
