Warning: The following article contains mention of disturbing content and spoilers from Grotesquerie episode 1.
Ryan Murphy returns to horror with Murphy's American Horror Story replacement, and its content certainly lives up to the standards set by its predecessor. Grotesquerie is grotesque (hence the name), disturbing, and wholly horrifying as Detective Lois Tryon and Sister Megan attempt to uncover the perpetrator behind the shocking murders.
Travis Kelce is expected to appear in Grotesquerie episode 3 after missing episodes 1 and 2. With a talented and notable cast (and Murphy behind the wheel), Grotesquerie is set up for success. However, the crime scene of the Burnside family's murders might be horrifying enough to intrigue viewers on its own.
The Burnside Baby Was In Grotesquerie Episode 1's Boiling Pot
The Episode Never Shows The Baby In The Pot
During FX's Grotesquerie episode 1, Niecy Nash-Betts' Detective Lois Tryon gets called to the Burnside family's home, where the parents and three children have all been brutally murdered. While inspecting the crime scene, Lois comes across a large pot sitting on the stove in the kitchen that is still boiling. Grotesquerie never shows the audience what's inside. However, the show implies that the Burnside family's baby was in the pot, and that is how they died.

Ryan Murphy's Brand-New Horror Show Directly Sets Up Monster Season 3's Killer, A Week After Menendez Brothers Story's Release
In its first episodes, Ryan Murphy's Grotesquerie has directly set up the killer for Monster season 3 with one subtle but clever connection.
Later in the episode, Lois describes the disturbing scene to Sister Megan. She is able to explain what happened to the parents and two of their children unfazed, but even the tough character has difficulty telling Sister Megan that the baby was in the pot. Unfortunately, the baby's death is among many other gruesome murders in Ryan Murphy's horror series Grotesquerie.
How The Rest Of The Burnside Family Was Killed In Grotesquerie Episode 1
The Family's Deaths Were Morbid
While the baby died in the boiling pot in Grotesquerie episode 1, the rest of the family also had terrifying deaths. Per TVLine, Lois tells Sister Megan that the Burnside patriarch was "salted and peppered, seasoned with fennel seed and cayenne and roasted for two hours in a 375-degree oven with sunchokes and baby carrots." The mother and two older children were tied up as the father was dying. Afterward, they were forced to eat some of him, and then died from "acute shock." So, it makes sense why multiple police officers threw up after witnessing the crime scene in Grotesquerie.
