EDITOR'S NOTE: This article is for Wordle answer #438; the September 1st Wordle answer is available now.
August 31st's Wordle features two vowels and no repeating letters, which could make the puzzle easy to solve. However, what makes the puzzle tricky to solve is the number of possible answers that could use up many attempts. In fact, when solving today's answer, the answer was solved in our fifth attempt, which makes it very risky. However, to avoid this issue, players can use hints that give them a better idea of the answer, even if they have only one confirmed letter to discover. In addition, players can still figure out the answer if they use starting words that feature multiple vowels, as it would yield the correct position of at least one letter.
Today's answer isn't necessarily a good fit for Wordle's hard mode due to the number of possible answers. There is a good chance players might use up to three attempts to determine the correct answer even if they have discovered four confirmed letters. Since the harder mode does not let players use confirmed letters in different spots, players can easily sacrifice their attempts. This is where contextual clues give players more context about the solution, so they don't have to sacrifice their daily streak. So here are three clues that will definitely nudge players toward the solution.
Today's Wordle Hints (August 31st #438)
Clues are best used when players are stuck on their third or fourth attempt and are scared to use guesses while being in the dark. The below hints are very similar to crossword puzzle clues that many players might be accustomed to. However, since these clues do not spoil the answer for players, it isn't technically cheating if it ends up solving the puzzle for Wordle players.
- Hint 1: often associated with game shows
- Hint 2: thing given as a reward to the winner of a competition
- Hint 3: something that can be taken by force
Today's Wordle Answer (August 31st #438)
The August 31st Wordle answer is PRIZE.
Figuring out the initial confirmed letters from today's Wordle answer wasn't a challenging task; however, as mentioned before, there are many possible answers. For example, in our attempts, we used three attempts by using the words' PRIDE,' 'PRIME,' and 'PRICE.' As these attempts show that four confirmed letters weren't enough to figure out the answer. Unfortunately, this made it rather difficult to guess 'PRIZE' on the fifth attempt and solve today's Wordle answer.
