It may have taken eight years, but players finally have their first extended look at recent delay for the game into 2021, with the release date now only a few weeks away on January 28.
First revealed back in 2012, The Medium is a psychological horror game from Bloober Team, the same studio behind the COVID-19 pandemic.
Now, just a few weeks out from release, both the real and spirit world at the same time. It also showcases the game’s puzzles and how it is built around this dual world design, such as an elevator that can only be opened in reality by activating an energy source in the spirit realm.
Most of all though, the trailer gives players their first deep dive into the dark world of The Medium, including its creepy level design and even what kind of monsters to expect. This is something Bloober Team really wants to get right, even going so far as to recruit Silent Hill franchise, some of the highest praise a horror game can receive.
For a game releasing in just a few weeks, The Medium is looking pretty good. The trailers released so far have really set the tone for what players can expect from it and this latest bit of gameplay really nails that psychological horror vibe. The split-screen style gameplay looks to be well implemented too and even the brief look at the game’s story elements seemed to be received positively. Of course, it remains to be seen if the rest of the game can live up the quality presented in this latest gameplay preview, but it's a strong start.
