Why Neve Campbell Isn't Returning For The Lincoln Lawyer Season 3

The Lincoln Lawyer is officially coming back for season 3 on Netflix, but Neve Campbell won't be returning as Mickey's ex-wife Maggie Mherson.

Along with Garcia-Rulfo, who will be among the ensemble of the Jurassic World movie, the returning Lincoln Lawyer cast of characters includes Neve Campbell (Maggie), Becki Newton (Lorna), Jazz Raycole (Izzy), Angus Sampson (Cisco), Yaya DaCosta (Andrea), Elliott Gould (Legal Siegel), Krista Warner (Hayley), Fiona Rene (Glory Days), and Devon Graye (Julian La Cosse). Even though Maggie accepted a new job in The Lincoln Lawyer season 2, showrunners Dailyn Rodriguez and Ted Humphrey confirm she'll have a presence in the episodes and be seen via flashbacks.

New cast ing in season 3 are Allyn Moriyon, John Pirruccello, Philip Anthony-Rodriguez, and Alias star Merrin Dungey as Judge Regina Turner.

It's previewed that The Lincoln Lawyer season 3 will represent Mickey's toughest case yet, particularly from an emotional standpoint. It's an encouraging sign that the popular adaptation will dig deeper into its lead protagonist, allowing Garcia-Rulfo to find new layers to his skilled defense attorney that may well set up the series for several more years to come.

What To Before The Lincoln Lawyer Season 3

The Season 2 Finale Sets Up The Latest Story

The second installment waded in murky waters for Garcia-Rulfo's character, as the personal and the professional dangerously mixed together. Lisa Trammell, played by Lana Parrilla, who is ing The Rainmaker adaptation, is a key character. Lisa is accused of murdering a prominent developer for the city, and Mickey has to prove her innocence. That's made a little more tricky due to the fact that Mickey was previously romantically involved with Lisa before becoming her lawyer. Even though she's not found guilty, any potential relationship that she could have with Mickey is doomed.

Elsewhere in the Lincoln Lawyer season 2 ending, there's a clear setup for season 3's story. Russell (David Clayton Rogers) is Mickey's client in the first episode of the second installment. Russell was arrested for breaking into a home and exposing himself. It's later revealed, however, that Russell was the one keeping tabs on Mickey all the way back in season 1. Russell has also murdered a key witness in the past, which aids in his downfall. He gets into an altercation with Glory Days (Tracker star Fiona Rene) and he's then arrested once again.

Lincoln Lawyer Season 1 Ending Explained (In Detail)

The questions presented in the series finale of The Lincoln Lawyer adaptation of Michael Connelly's popular books and a look at what might lie ahead.

For those who read the Gods of Guilt novel, Glory Days is the sex worker that's murdered. Although not confirmed, it's possible that the series is following the path set by the novel. It would mean that Mickey would lose a friend. The show, as a whole, would likely lose Rene, who has appeared in three episodes overall. In any case, even though The Lincoln Lawyer has standalone aspects, it is poised to forefront the Russell story that was seeded all the way back in the legal drama's premiere.

There remains a lot that has yet to be divulged about The Lincoln Lawyer, especially as it relates to Maggie's future with Mickey. Campbell's character does not appear in Gods of Guilt. But that doesn't mean that the Netflix adaptation can't chart its own path. Perhaps, given that there's a flashback of the couple, Maggie's presence will be significant. More will be revealed, in any case, as the premiere date draws nearer.
