Fox's gripping crime drama The Cleaning Lady wrapped up its fourth season in 2025, but will it get renewed for a fifth season too? Developed for American TV by Miranda Kwok from the Argentine series La chica que limpia, The Cleaning Lady follows Thony De La Rosa (Elodie Yung), a surgeon from Manila who now lives on an expired visa in the United States so that her son can get cutting-edge medical treatment. When Thony accidentally witnesses a crime, she is conscripted into the cartel, where she works as a doctor and cleaner for a powerful crime boss.

Mixing classic crime drama intrigue with light commentary on key social issues, The Cleaning Lady perfectly represents what Fox's TV shows typically deliver. Though the series is often melodramatic and scandalous, it's balanced by strong character development and writing that earns its more over-the-top elements. Season 4 opens a new chapter for Thony as she begins to establish a legitimate medical career once again. Unfortunately, she's still deep within the world of the cartel and those disparate elements are bound to clash at some point. All this sets up intriguing opportunities for The Cleaning Lady season 5.

Because the fourth season of The Cleaning Lady ended so recently, it comes as no surprise that Fox has yet to make a decision regarding season 5. The network has never been very swift with its renewals for The Cleaning Lady, and each new season has been picked up weeks or even months after the previous season had ended. It doesn't help that the series has been hit by two major setbacks since its inception, and it fell victim to both the COVID-19 pandemic and 2023 Hollywood strikes that caused massive delays.

After putting up decent numbers in its first two seasons, ratings began to slip during season 3 and finally hit their lowest point in the two-part season finale.

Despite all that, the real indicator of The Cleaning Lady's future is its ratings, and that isn't a very pretty picture. Although season 4 fared slightly better, the difference hasn’t been significant enough to make the series’ season 5 renewal a sure thing. This leaves the show’s fate entirely uncertain.

Who Will Return In Season 5?

Not everyone survived The Cleaning Lady season 4, but enough made it through to generally predict the cast of The Cleaning Lady season 5. Since it's essentially her show, it's expected that Elodie Yung will be back to reprise her role as surgeon-turned-cleaner Thony De La Rosa, especially now that she's beginning to move up in the world of both medicine and the cartel. ing her will almost certainly be Martha Millan as Fiona De La Rosa, Thony's sister who saves her life from Ramona in the season 4 finale.

Sean Lew plays Chris, Fiona's son, while Faith Bryant is Fiona's daughter, Jaz. They'll both likely reprise their roles, as will Khalen Roman Sanchez, who plays Thony's son, Luca. Sanchez assumed the role in season 4 from twins Sebastien and Valentino LaSalle, and he'll likely stick with the part for the time being. Santiago Cabrera appears as cartel boss, Jorge, but his flight overseas to find new allies could make his participation in season 5 uncertain. Kate del Castillo’s Ramona also isn’t confirmed to survive Thony burying her alive, although Mariel Suarez’s Alejandra is set up to likely save her.

Fiona also appears to have grown quite close to Chau Long’s Benny, the hacker who repays Thony for saving his life by helping Fiona track down Ramona in the season 4 finale.

There are also two newer additions to The Cleaning Lady season 4 who have survived to likely reprise their roles in the future. The first is Daniel Bonjour’s Dr. Dupont, whose hospital provides a front for Thony to perform her duties as cartel doctor. Fiona also appears to have grown quite close to Chau Long’s Benny, the hacker who repays Thony for saving his life by helping Fiona track down Ramona in the season 4 finale. Their characters both have a lot of potential to become major players in The Cleaning Lady season 5.

Finally, Alain Uy's Feng and John Pyper-Ferguson's Sam Heller will need to return as two of the series’ latest villains. Fortunately, Thony and Jorge should have at least two returning allies as well. Thanks to a new arrangement between him and Thony, Robert Cicchini almost has to return as DA Joel Herman. And as one of Jorge’s only surviving allies at the moment, Danny Pardo’s El Don (whose real name has been revealed as Jaime) is likely set to play a major role as well.

Everything is in flux for Thony right now, but she makes it clear through her own dialogue that much of The Cleaning Lady season 5 will entail her working simultaneously for both Sin Cara and newly appointed DA Joel Herman. Thony intends to betray Feng and Heller to the DA while secretly working to take the cartel for herself, which could put her at odds with Jorge in addition to Ramona. Meanwhile, Jorge’s search for allies to help him fight Sin Cara could lead to all-out war.

There aren’t many shows like The Cleaning Lady, and season 5 will likely demonstrate that when Thony balances her cartel war with her budding hospital romance. And that relationship could be in for some twists, since Dupont suggests in the season 4 finale that he’s killed in the past. Fiona’s ID scam could also start getting the wrong sort of attention, as she’s had The Cleaning Ladies steal too many IDs at this point to keep things under wraps much longer.

All of these things, however, could be thrown for a loop when Ramona returns. She’s a loose cannon with a shadowy network of allies, the most dangerous of whom right now appears to be Alejandra. And while it isn’t surprising that Thony chose to leave Ramona with a chance of survival, she probably won’t come back from being buried alive with a hefty sense of gratitude. Whatever The Cleaning Lady season 5 seems set up to deliver, Ramona may be the likeliest player to blow it all apart and take the series in unexpected directions.
