The Bear's Jeremy Allen White opens up about the next challenge for Carmy in season 3. With the acclaimed dramedy due to return in 2024, there are a lot of lingering questions about how the Emmy-nominated FX/Hulu show will follow up on its stellar second outing. Throughout eight episodes, the titular restaurant finally comes together in time for its opening night as they follow a strict schedule to try and repay Cicero (Oliver Platt) in 18 months. But for Carmen "Carmy" Berzatto, the goal he'd been working towards led him to crash and burn.
In an interview with The Bear season 3. The actor gave an update on the scripts and noted he'll go back to work on the show in January. He also hints that the restaurant and its menu will be a focus of the season 3 episodes. Read his quote below.
I’ll tell you the truth, which is I think they’ve written a couple scripts. I have not read any. I do know in January I’m going to spend a fair amount of time getting together with some chefs. There’ll be a menu set, I believe, that’s going to be for the restaurant in the third season. And I know that I’m going to start putting together that menu with different chefs and cooking and just trying to get prepared to do more of that stuff on camera. We all did a lot of preparation before the first season. I went to culinary school and I spent a lot of time in restaurants and stuff. And then, for the second season, so much of it was about putting the restaurant together, so there wasn’t that much cooking. But now, in the third season, I think we’re going to go back to that functioning kitchen atmosphere that we had in the first.
The Bear Season 3 Goes Back To The Kitchen (How Will Carmy React?)
The Bear's season 2 finale was tough for Carmy. He accidentally traps himself in a lock-in freezer during the restaurant's test opening night. While inside, he wonders if his romantic relationship is pulling attention away from his job. That might have been forgivable on its own, but his girlfriend Claire (Molly Gordon) overhears his doubts. She breaks up with him while he's still in the freezer. From there, at an especially low point, Carmy lashes out at Richie (Ebon Moss-Bachrach).
Showing his personal growth throughout the season. Richie tries to respond with love. But at the end of the finale, Carmy's on his own and has to evaluate what comes next. Based on White's comments, The Bear season 3 could return to the kitchen more frequently compared to the second outing. It remains an open question whether that will be good for Carmy or if the pressure will again highlight his more negative tendencies. The restaurant wasn't easy for Syd (Ayo Edebiri) either, as she ended up panicking and throwing up as the pressure mounted.

10 Burning Questions The Bear Season 3 Needs To Answer
The Bear season 3 will hopefully provide answers to season 2's lingering questions, while keeping audiences engaged in its captivating world.
Going into season 3, the stakes are high as Carmy needs to pay back the additional loans he got from Cicero to rebrand the restaurant. With three months already spent on remodeling and training the staff, the titular restaurant only has 15 months left to see a profit, or else it closes for good. Series creator Christopher Storer, along with the rest of the team, like executive producer Joanna Calo, will have a lot to give with The Bear's talented cast to set up the next phase and challenges for Carmy and his team. Based on early updates, it's going to be an eventful return to see whether the chef and his team can save the restaurant.
