In The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, you will be asked to choose between the Victims and the Family. If you choose Victim, there are five to choose from, all with unique skills and perks. Each Victim has different options, influencing how they play a match and what they choose to do. Each Victim has a choice of various Perk Paths, which is a crucial choice to make as you level up each Victim.
Victims in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre include Connie, Julie, Sonny, Leland, and Ana, who each have slightly different stats and abilities. While some Victims see less play than others, each can be modified to survive the Family’s assault if they play their cards right. Here are the best perks for each Victim, in no particular order, although each Victim’s strength may suggest an overall nod to their performance in-game..
Best Perk For Connie
Connie has one of the best abilities of the Victims as "Focused" allows her to open a lock near instantly while taking a hit to her stamina and Family proximity warnings. This ability can be leveled up to lower both of these costs, and choosing Perks that capitalize on this ability is beneficial for all Victims, not just Connie, and allow everyone on the team to navigate The Texas Chainsaw Massacre's map easier than they would otherwise.
Perks can be gained by unlocking various nodes in the Skill Tree section of the Customization menu. Choosing a particular path will block off the other paths, but you can respec for free as many times as you want, so feel free to experiment. Once a Perk has been unlocked on the Skill Tree, you can equip it in the Loadout section of the same menu.
Exit Strategy, one of the default Perks in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, is quite valuable for Connie as it can highlight the doors she has unlocked quickly for other Victims and make it easier for them to find them. This has the potential to be the best Perk for Connie and the rest of the team. For Perks that must be unlocked, Must Have Been The Wind can give Connie another Stealth advantage that can help negate the negatives associated with her Focused ability, and if the Family can’t find her, they can’t catch her.
Best Perk For Leland
Leland has one of the highest Strength stats at 40, and his main ability, Life Saver, can knock down and stun a Family member. Life Saver is a defensive ability for himself and other Victims, but often running into a Family member already means it’s too late. Due to his propensity to put himself in danger, Perks that increase his odds of surviving an encounter will make him much more viable.
The Perk Fight Back fits this agenda, as it allows Leland to further reduce a Family member’s stamina after surviving a Close Encounter. This will enable him to capitalize on the moment and escape the situation to hide or flee far enough to lose the Family member nearest him. The Fight Back Perk is especially valuable if he encounters Leatherface in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, who cannot be affected by Leland’s ability, and at least allows him to reduce Leatherface’s abilities for a time.
Best Perk For Ana
Ana is the group's tank, as she has the highest Toughness score at 35 and an ability that reduces the amount of damage she takes overall. However, the Victims are generally much better off utilizing Stealth and avoiding the Family in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre altogether. That being said, Ana being able to survive and encounter and escape again can be quite profitable, and her distraction might help other Victims get by unseen.
Empowered, then, can significantly boost Ana’s chances of survival and compensate her for getting hit. It allows her to regain health points and gives her a portion of her max stamina back, giving her enough endurance to get away and find a new route to escape. This can give Ana a fighting chance to survive close encounters and avoid angering Grandpa without relying too heavily on encountering Family to have a successful game.
Best Perk for Sonny
Sonny has a balanced stat between Strength and Endurance at 35, and his lowest stats, Toughness and Stealth, are also balanced at 15. At the most basic level, Sonny’s Heightened Sense ability can detect noise made by anyone nearby and track their movements. At the highest level, his ability can also identify whether it was another Victim or a Family member. This can be a powerful ability, and the Perks that give Sonny more information are advantageous.
Spotter is one such Perk in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre that allows all Victims to see a Family member if they move within close proximity of where Sonny is hiding. This gives the other Victims some of the information Sonny already has and provides Sonny with a clear answer whether the noise he heard was from a Victim or a Family member. Once Sonny has fully upgraded his ability, it is still a very good Perk for him because it distributes his knowledge to the rest of the team, and communication is key to a successful escape for every Victim.
Best Perk For Julie
Julie is the stealthiest Victim in the game, with a stat of 35. Her ability, Ultimate Escape, allows her to run briefly without making noise. This can get her past Grandpa and enable her to sneak around the farm quickly and without attracting undo attention from the Family. Two of her best Perks, Knock Knock and Tool Tracks, are unlocked from the beginning of he Texas Chainsaw Massacre without any extra points.
Julie can also greatly benefit from Must Have Been The Wind, in the same way Connie can. In fact, these two Victims can move fast without being seen and escape with the Family none the wiser. For someone who wants to try something different, Twinkle Toes can keep Julie from triggering Bone Charms, further increasing her silent and swift escape from the Family in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
