Brett Goldstein, who both co-wrote and starred as Roy Kent in Apple TV+'s Ted Lasso season 4's renewal, the future of the show beyond this season has remained uncertain.
While speaking on ending of Ted Lasso season 3 would be the final season of the show. He couldn't speak definitively, but Goldstein did share some encouraging comments about Ted Lasso's future.
"We did all cry, and we did all hug, but I also think, if I'm honest, a lot of us when we were hugging said 'we'll come back, won't we?' I felt 90% - I can't give you the numbers - I felt like we'd come back, but I didn't know."
Kimmel then asked Goldstein if Ted Lasso season 4 would be the final installment of the show, and he pointed out that the series is popular enough to be continued indefinitely.
"I think that's a conversation for Apple and I say that because someone from Apple is pointing a sniper rifle at me as you ask that question. I think we'd love to do it forever, but I think there's a limit..."
Goldstein's comments are nowhere near an official confirmation, and any definitive word on whether Ted Lasso season 5 ever happens is a very long way away. That being said, Goldstein's comments are a promising sign for the future of Ted Lasso beyond season 4. There's clearly still a desire and ion for the series, and as long as it remains popular, that could mean Ted Lasso could last a very long time indeed.
What Brett Goldstein's Comments Mean For Ted Lasso Season 4 & Beyond
There's Clearly Still Interest In Continuing The Show From The Creators & Stars Of Ted Lasso
Hearing from stars of popular shows who want those series to continue is rather common, but Brett Goldstein's comments about Ted Lasso carry a bit more weight. Goldstein is one of the show's main actors, but he's also a writer and executive story editor for Ted Lasso. Goldstein's position among the cast and crew of Ted Lasso means that his hopes for the show's continuation could actually prove to hold water. Goldstein has given us an insight into what the creative minds behind the series are thinking, and they clearly want Ted Lasso to go on.
If Goldstein is indicative of how the other creators and stars of Ted Lasso feel about the series, season 5 could actually happen. There seems to still be quite a bit of ion and enthusiasm surrounding the show, which could help it retain its quality in new seasons, even if it has sured its original three-season plan. One of the most important parts of Ted Lasso's formula is its earnestness and genuine ion for kindness, and Goldstein's comments indicate that the writers are nowehere near running out of either.
Our Take On Brett Goldstein's Desire To Continue Ted Lasso "Forever"
More Ted Lasso Is Never A Bad Thing, But The Show Has To End On A High Note
I, for one, would never complain about getting more Ted Lasso, but I think the series has to be careful about how it continues. The series finale of any show is one of the most important episodes it will ever produce. A bad finale can ruin a great series' legacy. Ted Lasso's season 3 finale was a great example of how to end a series on a high note: it was the highest-rated episode of the entire show on IMDb.

Does Ted Lasso Get Back Together With His Wife? Their Season 3 Fate Explained
Ted Lasso season 3 teased how Ted and his wife could get back together but the finale offered fans something more concrete.
Continuing Ted Lasso beyond season 4 risks ruining its legacy as one of the best and most popular sports comedies ever made. If the quality starts to peter off after Ted Lasso season 4, yet Apple continues to renew it due to its popularity, that would be a real shame. Goldstein actually touched on this idea in his interview, as he mentioned that there was a limit to the show. While I would like to see Ted Lasso continue, I just hope the creators know when to end things and are capable of giving us a conclusion as satisfying as season 3's.
