  • I've been a huge horror buff for a long time now and I'd even argue that because I love horror so much, I'm willing to enjoy cringier horror, just for the sake of enjoying the genre. However, The Conjuring was just as revolutionary the day I saw it as it is today. Paranormal horror isn't everyone's cup of tea, but what the conjuring does so well is it doesn't waste any time. Right from the get-go, you're already feeling some unease and things have heated up drastically barely 30 mins into the film. The scares are not cheap and play on real fears of unseen things. But perhaps most importantly, the characters of Ed and Lorraine Warren are so likable, that you can't help but wish for more screen time for them. The actors portray the roles beautifully to the point that Ed and Lorraine can emit to the audience what they're meant to emit from the other characters, a sense of safety and security. I am such a big scaredy cat and somehow I can watch this movie and the presence of these two characters helps me enjoy it without being too freaked out. I get all the amazing terrifying horror, but none of the post-watch nightmares. Truly a gem in horror.

  • The real-life case files about the paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine really captured my heart. In this movie, I'm so glad that Ed and Lorraine were able to help the Perron family.

  • Probably one of the scariest movies I have ever seen. Felt pure dread at a few parts on one moment made me tear up from how intense it was. I don't like watching Ghost movies like this, but really liked this one. Probably won't want again though. Terribly frightening.

'The Conjuring' Review
9/10

The Conjuring is a very satisfying horror movie outing, but when it's done - beyond the trauma of a freaky moviegoing experience - there is little to ponder or reflect upon.
