Synopsis
Loki is a series in the Marvel Cinematic Universe following the alternate version of the titular character, Loki, after the events of Avengers: Endgame. Taken by the Time Variance Authority, he must confront his identity and choices while aiding in fixing the disrupted timeline to avert a greater threat.

For a lot of MCU fans, he's the first big villain, and therefore, a fan-favorite. While he is complicated and interesting, I always wonder why the MCU isn't ready to move away from his character to spotlight others. That being said, Tom Hiddleston does some fantastic work in this series. He's incredibly fun to watch as the MCU starts to unravel the multiverse here, but other players in the show are still more interesting to me than Loki himself.

Loki is a work of art, truly. After playing second fiddle to Thor, our beloved mischief maker finally steals the spotlight, revealing that Loki isn't just a jealous brother and villain. Loki grants the character of the same name such emotional depth. It portrays grief, loss, pain - because it turns out, our original Loki Laufeyson isn't the only traitor. Love and betrayal are constant themes in this series. The way the MCU introduced the TVA and variants in a breeze, mingling so well with Loki's storyline, is amazing. Our fan-favorite's show introduces many new characters and concepts such as Mobius, Sylvie, Renslayer, B-15, OB, Casey, the Timekeepers, the TVA, He Who Remains, Victor Timely, Miss Minutes, Nexus events, Temporal Looms and the list goes on. I highly recommend watching this series if you're up for a whole rollercoaster, and a whole lot of Loki.

It was no easy task to write a series about one of the MCU's most popular figures after his story met a seemingly definitive conclusion, but Loki stook the landing. Weaving MCU history, comic lore, time-travel tropes, and even real-world mysteries, the series takes Loki, pushes him through an instant emotional arc to get this new variant up to speed, and then embarks on a tale that kept viewers guessing. Between a brilliant cast, compelling romance, and loving attention to detail, the series stands out as one of the MCU'S best Disney+ outings.

#NX2054840Threads236Reviews237Ratings191PostsFollowing0Stories0Topics0Authors0sLoki season 1 was a great season of television for its thoughtful sci-fi writing, organic escalation of stakes, and for giving Loki an engaging arc that more than made up for essentially resetting his character development, but season 2 falters a bit for its odd pacing and for ending with no real change to the status quo of the Multiverse Saga, something made even worse in hindsight with Kang officially abandoned as the villain. The series isn't without its problems, but it's still the best MCU series to date, and it's plenty worth watching because of it.

Loki is just fine for me, which I know is an incredibly unpopular opinion amongst MCU fans. I was entertained by it enough on first watches, but I don't see myself revisiting it anytime soon. It's a shame because I absolutely love the aesthetic of the show, but some of the story was just too hard for me to follow. I also found Hiddleston's acting to be a bit over-the-top at times, which I know fits in line with Loki as a character, but I just couldn't bring myself to enjoy it.

I am a huge Loki fan and I've been really enjoying the show. I wasn't crazy about the romance subplot. Seeing Loki and Mobius interact is one of the best parts of the show for me, their interactions are always hilarious and, at times, pull at my heartstrings.

Really like Loki's progression throughout and the end of season two is some of the best storytelling the MCU has ever done.

The first season just about pulls its weight, using Tom Hiddleston's beloved antihero to anchor a weirder world than appears in the MCU, with a liminal space aesthetic that really makes the TVA feel worth visiting. Unfortunately, it's not worth visiting for two seasons, as Loki's initial intrigue melts into loosely defined stakes and a plot that's essentially just running back and forth.
