Considered a flop upon its theatrical release, Labyrinth has built up a devoted cult following in its subsequent 40 years. Featuring an imaginative story from creative genius Jim Henson and Monty Python Terry Jones, based on the drawings of Brian Froud, Labyrinth is the sort of dark adventure that isn't a hit with all kids, but the kids who do like it, LOVE it. It's a good reminder that when you let creatives take the wheel, you can't be sure where they'll go, but the ride could just be worth it.

The energy in Labyrinth is electric, and David Bowie exudes one of his most exquisite performances. For most, it might be a celebration of the fantastic world, but to me, it is a deep story about a girl's journey toward maturity and self-realization. The performance of Jennifer Connelly as Sarah is spellbinding as she guides us through a labyrinth of trials which reflect her psyche.
