Warning! Spoilers ahead for Superman #25!As sad as it is to say, one member of the Superman Family has just lost their powers, and it's the worst thing that could happen to the team. The Family of Steel has been delighting fans everywhere as it continues to grow and add new . But now, one hero is de-powered, and it's a step in the wrong direction.
In Superman #25 by Joshua Williamson, Jamal Campbell, Eddy Barrows, Eber Ferreira, Dan Mora, Alejandro Sánchez, and Dave Sharpe, Superman and Superwoman are under attack by X-El, a powerful clone of Lex's with all his memories and an enhanced, powerful body.
During the battle, Lois Lane fights X-El, who threatens to kill her entire family, causing Superwoman to unleash a torrent of energy on the villainous clone. The fight eventually comes to an end, but it isn't until the dust settles after X-El's defeat that Superman, Lex Luthor, and Superwoman all realize that Lois' powers are gone.
Superwoman Just Lost All of Her Newfound Superpowers
Lois Lane's Superhero Upgrade is Gone as Fast After Just Months
During the events of Absolute Power, Lois Lane wore a war suit developed by Lex Luthor to protect her family and friends from Waller's attack. However, what Lois didn't realize was that the suit was programmed to send out signals into deep space. When Task Force VII was destroyed and the metahuman's powers were returned, Lois was caught up in the power swap. But due to her suit reaching out into the cosmos, she accidentally participated in a swap with General Zod, giving Lois several Kryptonian powers, allowing her to operate as the Superman Family’s latest hero, Superwoman.
This is an incredibly unfortunate turn of events. Fans have really taken to Lois’ superhero upgrade, loving how the two have been able to share adventures and watching as Lois learns the ropes of heroism. But now she’s powerless and by the looks of things, she’s not going to be getting them back anytime soon. What’s worse is that General Zod is out for blood from whoever took his powers. So what’s he going to do once he finds out that Superwoman not only accidentally took them, but burned them out to the point that they’re gone completely?
Superwoman's Power Loss Puts Lois Lane in Serious Danger
Powers Or Not, General Zod is Coming Back Soon
It was one thing when Zod was coming back and Superwoman had his powers. But now he's on his way to Earth and Lois is as powerless as she was before Absolute Power. Granted, she's got Superman and her family by her side to help her out. But that's going to be a serious adjustment for Lois, who just had a taste of practical godhood and is now an average person once again. Not to mention, Zod is a maniac who's not going to take the thievery of his powers or Superwoman lose them with grace.
It's unfortunate, because Superwoman was a great chapter in Lois Lane's life, and it's hard to think that it's over now. Maybe this is just a temporary setback and her powers will come back after a recharge (that usually does the trick for Superman). But if this is permanent, then Lois' Superwoman days are officially done. Hopefully, this is just a temporary flaw, because the entire Superman Family is going to need Lois at 100% when General Zod comes looking for his powers.
