Over Meg and Crowley became some of the Winchesters' most trusted allies. Nonetheless, demons have always been some of the most entertaining parts of the show.

Yet, there has also been a bunch of things about the hellspawn that just didn't add up. Therefore, we have put together a list of ten things that just don't make sense about them.

The Weird Demon From "Phantom Traveler"

Supernatural had its first full on-screen demon in the season one episode "Phantom Traveler" and it is well-known for being a really weird looking demon. He had insect-like demon smoke and his skin physically burned when he came in  with holy water. This iteration of a demon is never seen again.

Now, given that it was still early in the show, it makes sense that the writers needed to make improvements as the show went along but it would still be better for there to be some canonical explanation for why he was so different.

What Ever Happened To "Christo?"

In that same episode, the brothers identify the demon using the word Christo, which causes the demon to flinch. This is apparently an easy and safe way to suss out any demon, however, the brothers never use that trick again.

Only in the season fourteen episode, "Optimism," does the Nephilim Jack use it, who clearly had to be told about it from the Winchesters. For years fans have been arguing about this strange inconsistency around the demons and there still seems to be no clear reason as to why.

Azazel's Plan Didn't Make Sense

Azazel, or the Yellow-eyed Demon as he was first known, was one of the Winchesters' most hated enemies. He was responsible for killing Mary and manipulating Sam's life so that he would break the seals in order to release Lucifer.

However, during one of Azazel's tests, Sam was killed by one of the other special children, Jake Talley. Now, Sam was Lucifer's true vessel and if Dean didn't trade his soul for Sam's life, all of Lucifer's plans would have been stopped in its tracks.

Why Are Demons Always In Their Vessels?

Throughout the show, we almost only see demons in their vessels. Yet, they also appear in Hell in their own "meat suits." We almost never see the demons in the black smoke form. Therefore, do almost all demons have vessels, and what then happens to the demons who have been exorcised?

Practically, it would be ridiculous to have entities of black smoke interacting with each other. However, it would have made sense for the writers to give some sort of explanation.

Why Do They Use The Goblet Of Blood To Communicate?

Making a call shouldn't literally require someone to die but for the demons and sometimes even some of the angels, using a special goblet full of blood seems to be one of the most common ways to communicate.

Yet, later in the show, Crowley is shown using his phone in hell where he can both make and receive phone calls. Therefore, it makes no sense that they have been using a messy and bloody ritual when all they needed to do was send a text.

What Exactly Are Tempter Demons?

In the twelfth season of Supernatural, fans were introduced to a new kind of demon, Tempter demons. So far, only seen in the Apocalypse World, the demons are unique as they have horns and look more like monsters than anything else.

However, there is no real explanation as to why they look like that and what exactly their goal is. Although they are only really on screen for a few moments, it still would have helped to have been given some kind of backstory about them.

Why Was Abaddon Harder To Kill Then Lilith?

Over the seasons, it is shown that there are many ways to kill a demon. Lilith was the first demon ever created by Lucifer and therefore is the most powerful. Yet, she was easily killed by Sam on a demon blood rush.

On the other hand, The Knight of Hell Abaddon was shown to not be nearly as powerful as Lilith, but she could only really be killed by the First Blade. Therefore, the relative powers and weakness of the demons have just never made any sense.

What Happened To Crowley's Hellhound?

One of the scariest creatures of the earlier seasons was the Hellhounds who were responsible for dragging the souls of people who had made deals with demons to Hell.

Seemingly, some demons like Crowley could control Hellhounds. Although ferocious and terrifying, they seemed deeply loyal to their owners and in season nine it is revealed that Crowley still has a Hellhound named Juliet. Yet, after his death, it is not known what happened to her, and whether or not she is still just patiently waiting for her Master who will never come back.

What Happened To The Seven Deadly Sins?

Locked up in Hell for centuries, The Seven Deadly Sins were a unique group of demons that appeared in season three. When the Devil's Gate was opened, they were able to escape and cause mayhem and destruction until stopped by the Winchesters and Bobby.

However, not all of the demons were killed. Instead, most of them were exorcised and sent back to Hell which they could have easily escaped from. Yet, we never see or hear from them again.

What Ever Happened To The Cambion Jesse?

Cambions are half-demons and half-humans and are some of the most powerful beings on the show. In season five, the brothers are introduced to young Jesse Turner who is causing mayhem in his town. He was conceived while his mother was possessed by a demon and he was believed to be the Anti-Christ.

After finding out the truth about himself, he disappears and is never seen nor heard from again. However, he is an incredibly powerful entity who could have easily helped the Winchesters with all their world-ending events. It also really doesn't make sense that neither Crowley nor Lucifer ever went looking for him as a way to build up their arsenal. Hopefully, the final season will give us some clues as to what happened to him.
