It's easy to call Supernatural largely succeeded due to the sheer charisma and chemistry between Jensen Ackles and Jared Padelecki as Dean and Sam Winchester. It's a staple of The CW and was one of the most popular shows around since premiering in the early 2000s.

All The Scooby-Doo crossover is arguably the most popular of them, but there was one surprising mash-up that was incredibly bizarre and didn't even feature Sam and Dean in it. Despite that, it is still incredible.

Dean Winchester's Iconic Impala Appeared In An Episode Of Legends Of Tomorrow

The Meta-Humor Works Well For This Supernatural Crossover

Legends Of Tomorrow Supernatural Crossover

Legends of Tomorrow season 5, episode 9, "Zari, Not Zari," featured one of the silliest crossovers with Supernatural, but it's also surprisingly great. During the episode, Sarah Lance, Charlie, and John Constantine stumble upon Dean Winchester's Baby, an iconic 1967 Chevrolet Impala that the character loves more than almost anything. It's one of the most recognizable pieces of iconography from Supernatural, and Legends of Tomorrow uses it to great effect.

Content to march to the beat of its own drum, Legends of Tomorrow goes the meta route during its Supernatural crossover, as the series is actually just that in the Legends of Tomorrow universe. Sarah Lance learns that Supernatural is filming season 15 at their location and has the hopes of running into the Winchester brothers, explaining to John Constantine that the dead body in the back of Baby is just a prop. Of course, Sarah, Charlie, and John stumble across dead of the Supernatural crew, with Sarah's biggest concern being who is shooting the season.

It's mostly played for laughs, but just seeing that iconic Chevy Impala appear in an Arrowverse project is a bit surreal. After all, both Supernatural and The CW's DC universe are some of the most important pieces of the network's entire catalog, with both finding their shows ranking high among the best The CW has to offer. The meta humor fits the style that Legends of Tomorrow comfortably settled into during its seven-season run, and is the perfect type of crossover for a show like that.

Legends Of Tomorrow's Impala Cameo Is One Of Many Supernatural & DC Connections

Supernatural Actors Have A Long History With DC Properties

Dean's Baby isn't the only time Supernatural has crossed paths with DC, as the iconic CW series has seen quite a few actors appear in various projects for the comic IP. Jensen Ackles has appeared in several animated DC films as the voice of Red Hood (Jason Todd) in Batman: Under the Red Hood and played Batman for multiple films within DC's Tomorrowverse of animated movies. And one of the most recent examples is Misha Collins playing Harvey Dent in CW's Gotham Knights.

Katie Cassidy has had arguably the most substantial role of any Supernatural actor for her portrayal of Laurel Lance, A.K.A. Black Canary, in the Arrowverse. She was a major staple of the series early on, and it was actually her big breakthrough role after appearing in several other shows and movies in smaller roles prior to Arrow, outside of playing Ruby in Supernatural season 3. She was featured in 152 total episodes before the series ended in 2020 after eight seasons.

Jefferey Dean Morgan could have played Flashpoint Batman if the DCEU had gone the route of adapting the actual story.

Both Jefferey Dean Morgan (John Winchester) and Laura Cohen (Bela Talbot) made their way to the big screen for their DC projects, featured early on in Zack Snyder's Batman v. Superman as Thomas and Martha Wayne, in a flashback that shows how they died. Though they never got to reprise their roles for a proper Flashpoint adaptation, both actors were an inspired casting choice despite their limited screentime. There have also been other minor characters in Supernatural that have popped up, mostly in Arrowverse shows, highlighting the surprise connection that DC has with The CW's most iconic series.
