The Irons family steps into center stage in the main story from Action Comics #1051 by Phillip Kennedy Johnson, Rafa Sandoval, Matt Herms, and Dave Sharpe. Not only are they both seen throughout the issue helping to save the day as Steel, they also hold a packed press conference to celebrate the opening of Steelworks Tower, which officially beats out the Lexcorp Building as the tallest building in Metropolis.

Steel John Henry Irons Gives an Empowering Speech at a Podium

John Henry and Natasha Irons both played significant roles in Superman's recent revolution on Warworld, and that's only their latest feat. The Irons family, both as Steel and outside that role, has long ed Superman, especially after John Henry stepped up as Steel during the aftermath of the Death of Superman saga. Now, both John and Natasha are playing major roles again in Superman's new era, which launches alongside DC's "Dawn of DC" initiative. Action Comics promises to split its focus among the Superman Family, including through two back-up stories included in every issue.

It's certainly an exciting time to be a Superman fan—and an even more exciting time to be a fan of Steel. Few of Superman's allies deserve this new leadership role as much as John and Natasha, and they have proved themselves not only trustworthy allies, but innovative engineers who will surely lead Metropolis into a brighter future. The Irons family is stepping up with Superman's hearty . Notably, Superman isn't even present during this press conference—instead, now that he one again has a secret identity, Clark Kent can Metropolis' new leaders as an intrepid reporter. But this scene doesn't even need Superman: John and Natasha (and the extended Superman Family) can carry it on their own.

Though the Steelworks Tower doesn't fully survive this event, the Irons' influence over the city is clearly felt in this issue of Action Comics. The Tower will surely be rebuilt as John and Natasha continue to and uplift the people of Metropolis through their roles as engineers, not just superheroes. Superman can easily step back from the spotlight—both generations of Steel can hold their own.
