Star Wars: Skeleton Crew Trailer Breakdown
The first trailer for Star Wars’ newest TV show - Skeleton Crew - is finally here, bringing a first look at the series’ cast, characters, and story.
Skeleton Crew Is Exactly What Star Wars Claimed It Would Be
Skeleton Crew was billed as a coming-of-age Star Wars story featuring children from an Earth-like planet. Thus far, the trailer has proved that entirely true. The planet from which the children come is indeed shockingly similar to Earth, and it's evident that the plot will primarily focus on their experience of being lost in the galaxy.
Jude Law's character is confirmed to be Force-sensitive.
However, the trailer contained some surprises as well. Jude Law's character, Jod Na Nawood, has been prominently featured in the advertising for the show leading up to this trailer release, and it was evident that he would be ing the children on their journey. However, the trailer saw Law's character using the Force. While the children then referred to him as a Jedi, it isn't clear whether this is the case. Regardless of the title, though, Jod Na Nawood is confirmed to be Force-sensitive.
This will prove particularly interesting in light of the era in which the show is set. Specifically, Skeleton Crew is confirmed to take place at the same time as The Mandalorian, meaning this is the New Republic era. The existence of a brand-new Force- at this time is therefore significant and a bit shocking. Surely, this will have implications for this era far beyond just the show; after all, by the sequel trilogy, Luke Skywalker was meant to be the sole remaining Jedi.
Of course, this is just one of no doubt many surprises in store in Skeleton Crew. As The Acolyte just proved, Star Wars continues to be a franchise with tricks up its sleeve, so even in light of the new information provided in the trailer, there is so much that remains to be seen. However, with the first trailer officially released, it's safe to assume that updates on Star Wars: Skeleton Crew will now be ongoing.
Skeleton Crew begins streaming with a two-episode premiere on December 3, 2024, on Disney+.
