This post contains a preview for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker Adaptation #5
The final issue of Marvel's Lando Calrissian arrives in the nick of time with 14,000 starships to defeat Emperor Palpatine once and for all. However, it's never been revealed how Lando convinced everyone to come together (until now).
Across the board, Marvel's Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker Adaptation has been doing a pretty good job fleshing out and adding new moments to Episode IX that weren't seen in the theatrical release of the Skywalker saga's divisive final chapter. Notably, the newStar Wars adaptation has done wonders for Leia Organa in particular. However, it looks as though the final Rise of Skywalker Adaptation #5 will finally give Lando Calrissian the spotlight he always deserved, explaining a major missing scene from the movie:
Revealing the transmission Lando sent out galaxy-wide, it's pretty cool to finally see exactly how the former gambler and con-man played a key role in saving the galaxy, just like he did in Return of the Jedi during the Battle of Endor.
Lando Finally Gets His Missing Rise of Skywalker Moment
Rallying The Entire Galaxy To Exegol
As seen in the new preview pages, Lando Calrissian's words are finally heard ahead of his arrival at the Battle of Exegol, broadcast to the entire galaxy as he requests all the help he can get to back up the Resistance in their darkest hour against the resurrected Emperor Palpatine and the rise of his Final Order. Confirming the recent death of General Leia Organa, Lando appeals to the galaxy to take up her fight.

One Rise Of Skywalker Scene Is So Much Better After Andor Season 2
One of The Rise of Skywalker's best scenes has been made infinitely more impactful after Andor season 2. There's more to life than the Jedi.
Honoring her memory and belief that the smallest spark of Rebellion could bring down the force of darkness, Lando tells anyone listening that Leia wouldn't want them to fight for her or her memory, but for themselves. It's a pretty good speech, though one that was sorely and inexplicably missing from the Rise of the Skywalker film. After all, Lando and these 14,000 ships simply arrive at The Rise of Skywalker's end, without any preamble or setup to show how Calrissian got so many to come to the Resistance's aid, especially when the Resistance's calls for in The Last Jedi went unanswered.
While it's still pretty contrived, it looks as though this new adaptation is at least making things a little bit better by giving Lando more of a substantial role during the movie's final act. At least we finally get to hear what he said. Clearly, those words rang true across the galaxy, resonating with countless beings who subsequently chose to light the spark of rebellion and head for Exegol alongside Lando, who presumably were also sent the same coordinates Rey sent to the Resistance.
Is This Enough To Convince Star Wars Fans?
This Would Have Been Even Better A Few Years Ago...
As cool as this new Rise of Skywalker adaptation has been, it's still hard not to see it as too little, too late for most fans. Sure, the graphic novel has improved several moments in Rise of Skywalker, and has even added some key lines of dialogue that have helped several characters who were done a disservice in the film. However, these issues are being published 6 years after the movie's release. That's more than enough time for opinions to be truly cemented, especially when we're talking about the Star Wars fandom.
I can see the value of this new adaptation and how it improves Rise of Skywalker. However, I'm also wondering at the same time why these easy additions and improvements weren't in the original movie to begin with. They absolutely should have been.
