Warning! This post contains SPOILERS for Jedi Knights #4Marvel's new Tales of the Jedi. Originally, I was excited to see that Lucasfilm was focusing on different characters beyond the Jedi with future "Tales of..." series like Tales of the Empire and the recent Tales of the Underworld. However, I gotta it that Marvel's new Jedi Knights series has made me rethink my stance.
The first issue of Marvel's ongoing Jedi Knights series was published in early 2025, and the fourth issue was just released. Coming from writer Mark Guggenheim and artist Madibek Musabekov, Jedi Knights takes place in the years before The Phantom Menace, when Obi-Wan Kenobi was still Qui-Gon Jinn's apprentice. That said, Jedi Knight has been focused on multiple of the Jedi Order, featuring unique pairings that have reinvigorated my interest in another season of Tales of the Jedi.
Tales of the Jedi Was A Perfect Animated Star Wars Series
(But It Wasn't Enough)
Lucasfilm's first "Tales of..." series, 2022's Tales of the Jedi consisted of 6 episodes. The first three were focused on Dooku when he was still a Jedi Knight but culminated in his full turn to the dark side during the events of The Phantom Menace itself. Likewise, the back three episodes were all about Ahsoka, revealing her birth and the discovery of her Force sensitivity, her unique training with Anakin Skywalker that aided in Ahsoka's Order 66 survival, as well as her battle with an Imperial Inquisitor during the Dark Times.
While Tales of the Jedi was a very successful release for Lucasfilm Animation, the studio pivoted to Tales of the Empire in 2024 and 2025's Tales of the Underworld. Similarly featuring new stories that had never been seen on-screen before, I was excited to see characters like Barriss Offee, Morgan Elsbeth, Asajj Ventress, and Cad Bane get some prominent spotlights. However, Jedi Knights has made it abundantly clear that Lucasfilm should consider a return to Tales of the Jedi.
Marvel's Jedi Knights Proves Lucasfilm Needs More Early Jedi Order Stories
Jedi Knights #4 Is A Prime Example
Across the board, Jedi Knights has been a very fun ride thus far. Each issue features unique pairings of Jedi Knights and even new faces among the Jedi Order who've never been seen before. While most of the issues have been largely isolated adventures, there is an intriguing mystery running throughout with an assassin in the shadows seeking to kill Qui-Gon Jinn.

10 Star Wars Moments That Helped Define Jedi Lore
The Jedi are arguably the main part of the Star Wars franchise, making moments that define their lore especially important. These are the 10 best!
The brand-new Jedi Knights #4 is a perfect example. When a thief steals money from a senator that secretly belonged to Jabba the Hutt, a major conspiracy unfolds involving some familiar bounty-hunting faces, including Zam Wessell, Aurra Sing, and even Jango Fett. However, Jedi Masters Qui-Gon Jinn and Shaak Ti are brought into the multi-layered con as well, all while Jinn is being stalked by this mysterious assassin.
Will We Ever Get A Tales of the Jedi Season 2?
It's Certainly Possible...
While all the canonical Star Wars comics have been fun and do have value, it's no secret that Star Wars media on-screen will always reach more fans. Because of this, I would love it if Jedi Knights became the quasi-blueprint that convinces Lucasfilm to produce more seasons of Tales of the Jedi. I could easily see Tales of Rebellion, Droids, or Sith happening first. That said, my fingers are definitely crossed for the future for a potential Tales of the Jedi season 2.
