Warning! This post contains SPOILERS for Star Wars: Skeleton Crew

Although the Skeleton Crew series finished before building LEGO's Onyx Cinder set. Inspired by the legendary pirate ship of the same name, LEGO's Onyx Cinder model is currently the only set inspired by the recent Star Wars show. That being said, there's a lot to love about this exciting build and its great cast of minifigures modeled after the show's young crew.

Released on August 1st, 2024, Jude Law's "Jedi" pirate character Jod Na Nawood. That being said, my enjoyment of the new LEGO Star Wars sets was undoubtedly greater, having watched Skeleton Crew and seeing the ship in action. Here's an in-depth review of LEGO's The Onyx Cinder (75374), its unique features, and detailed minifigures.

With a $140 price tag, LEGO's The Onyx Cinder (75374) feels reasonably priced considering the overall piece count. The model comes with 5 minifigures, and the leading cast of kids can be seen on the box art in the corner, while the ship itself can be seen flying with a nearby moon in the distance. The back of the box features the ship with its cargo doors open, having landed within the forests of At Attin, the kids' hidden homeworld containing a legendary "endless treasure" which draws the attention of several pirates in the new Star Wars series.

Featuring 1,325 pieces across 13 bags, The Onyx Cinder (75374) took me just under 2 hours to fully build at a fairly leisurely pace. While the set does come with a sticker sheet, there weren't too many to apply all things considered. The build itself is fairly straightforward, though there are some unique elements of asymmetry to keep builders on their toes.

Build And Minifigure Breakdown For The Onyx Cinder (75374)

Multiple Unique Play Features And Very Detailed Minifigures

Once fully built, The Onyx Cinder (75374) has multiple unique play features, the most prominent of which is the lever on the top that rotates all six engines simultaneously. There are also a handful of doors and sections that can be opened to reveal the ship's interior, featuring a central kitchen and dining area as seen in the Skeleton Crew show itself, such as when Jod made food (a cooking pot is included with the set) or when they had the peg-leg droid SM-33 tied down on the table after he tried to kill them all.

I Know It's Disappointing, But... I'm Not Really Expecting Big Revenge of the Sith Anniversary LEGO Sets This Year

While there are technically a few rumored to release in 2025, I'm not expecting major Revenge of the Sith LEGO sets for the movie's 20th anniversary.

The model features multiple turrets with stud shooters, and the domed turrets Wim and Fern use in the show to fend off the incoming New Republic X-Wing fighters back when Jod initially convinced them they couldn't be trusted. Likewise, the minifigures have some great detail too, and the brick-built kids even have the same patches from their homeworld which the owl-like Kh'ymm used to zero in on At Attin's location. Jod's minifigure also looks great and comes with a flintlock pistol, though I couldn't resist adding a lightsaber with a gold hilt like the one he claims from Wim in Skeleton Crew episode 5.

I'm Pretty Sure I Know Why The Onyx Cinder (75374) Includes Skeleton Crew's Entire Main Cast

I Wouldn't Expect More Skeleton Crew Sets...

Onyx Cinder Crew LEGO 75374

Had I built this set in August when it first came out, I wouldn't have cared as much or appreciated the small details to be found in The Onyx Cinder model. As such, collectors on the fence should consider getting their hands on this model now that the show is streaming, as it's probably the only Skeleton Crew set LEGO intends to release for quite some time. After all, Skeleton Crew season 2 has yet to be greenlit (and the show didn't receive the greatest ratings).

Regardless, I think LEGO only ever expected to make one set, much like they did for Andor. It would explain why the entire main cast is featured in this one set and not split across multiple as is often the case. It would be great to get an SM-33 or Brutus minifigure along with the sleeker Onyx Cinder that emerges after the kids blow its exterior hull in Skeleton Crew episode 6. However, fans will likely have to rely on custom-builds rather than anything official from LEGO.

That being said, I absolutely recommend LEGO's The Onyx Cinder (75374). It's a great-looking Star Wars ship and build overall, and the model features some of my favorite minifigures of 2024. I particularly love the always adorable Neel, as well as KB with her visor and cybernetic augments.
