The current MCU hero future. Phase 4's biggest movie was easily Spider-Man: No Way Home, finishing its theatrical run as the third highest-grossing Marvel Cinematic Universe movie worldwide. This led to talk about the future and the possibility of another MCU Spider-Man movie. Some thought No Way Home marked the end for Holland's Spider-Man, but the end offered some promise for future storylines. No Way Home was an incredible spectacle, bursting with entertainment and offering the joyous fan service that only top-level comic book movies usually manage.
In the post-Avengers: Endgame world, the expectations placed on Marvel movies increased exponentially, and No Way Home's massive scope was a testament to the need to try and outdo the Infinity Saga. That it has achieved such success is astonishing, but now attention turns to what Sony and Marvel can do next with this character in Spider-Man movie future.

The Latest Spider-Man: Brand New Day News
The Wallcrawler's Newest Updates
Tom Holland's fourth Spider-Man film has finally received a title. During CinemaCon 2025, Sony announced that Spider-Man: Brand New Day would be the official title, ditching the "Home" moniker, and priming Holland's Peter Parker for an entirely new adventure with his new status quo. Marvel Comics fans might recognize the Brand New Day title, as it is directly tied to one of Spider-Man's most controversial stories.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day's title seems like a direct callback to the controversial One More Day/Brand New Day storyline, where One More Day saw Peter Parker make a deal with Mephisto to save Aunt May's life in exchange for Peter's marriage to Mary Jane. This effectively erased all of their memories of being married, and altered some key moments in the Marvel Comics timeline, something that upset a lot of Spider-Man fans.
Brand New Day was the storyline following One More Day, which saw Peter Parker and Spider-Man's characters and storylines essentially receive a regressive reboot. While Brand New Day has a lot of comic history tied to it, Spider-Man: Brand New Day seems like an apt title for the fourth film, especially since Spider-Man: No Way Home left the character with a fresh start, removed from basically everything in his past life after Doctor Strange made it so no one ed him.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day Is Confirmed
Spider-Man's Fourth Entry In The MCU
More Spider-Man: Brand New Day updates came courtesy of Sony's Amy Pascal, who talked more Spider-Man content in an interview: "This is not the last movie that we are going to make with Marvel – [this is not] the last Spider-Man movie. We are getting ready to make the next Spider-Man movie with Tom Holland and Marvel. We're thinking of this as three films, and now we're going to go on to the next three. This is not the last of our MCU movies."
Also, before Feige confirmed it, Sony Pictures’ Tom Rothman confirmed that there is still at least one MCU crossover on the docket:
We lend one, then they lend one, and that's how Benedict is in this movie, so we have one more lend back that is committed.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings director Destin Daniel Cretton will also be directing Spider-Man: Brand New Day, with Spider-Man movie writers Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers also returning for the fourth release in the series. Given Shang-Chi's reception and the success of the MCU's Spider-Man stories thus far, this report paints a promising picture for the future of the movie.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day Production Status & Release Date
Begins Shooting In The Summer
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is set to be released on July 31, 2026, and Tom Holland recently gave an update regarding when shooting will be taking place. In an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Tom Holland in October 2024, Tom Holland confirmed that the film will be shot in the summer of 2025.
This feels like a rather short turnaround time for post-production, as it is scheduled for July 31, 2026, given how important the film is for both Sony and Marvel Studios. If it seems like Spider-Man: Brand New Day would need more time, a holiday 2026 release window could work out well, same as Spider-Man: No Way Home.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day Cast
Holland Returns For His Fourth Spider-Man Film
Spider-Man: No Way Home ended with everyone's memories of Peter Parker getting wiped out of existence, and him being left all alone to carry on his responsibilities as Spider-Man. Because of this, it is unclear exactly who will be back for Spider-Man: Brand New Day alongside Tom Holland as the titular character in his fourth solo film and seventh overall in the MCU. The only other casting confirmation besides Holland has been Sadie Sink of Stranger Things, with the possibility of her playing Jean Grey, though her role is currently unknown.

The return of Zendaya as MJ and Jacob Batalon as Ned are still up in the air, with a lot of the casting hinging on what route Sony wants to take with the story. Every Tom Holland Spider-Man film has also featured at least one other established MCU character from other properties, which makes it possible Spider-Man: Brand New Day will do the same in some capacity.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day Story Details
Spider-Man Will Be The Focus Over Peter Parker
Spider-Man: Brand New Day has had few updates concerning the story of the movie itself. However, the end of Spider-Man: No Way Home left hints, and its staggering critical and commercial success means that the MCU is likely to follow up on any teases or cliffhangers set up by the prior release. Producer Amy Pascal opened up about what to expect from the movie on Deadline's Behind the Lens. She detailed a little bit about what Spider-Man: Brand New Day's story will revolve around, stating:
“We have to deal with the fact that he decided he was going to give up being Peter Parker, and he was gonna focus on being Spider-Man, because being Peter Parker was too hard. So that’s what the movie is about.”
Though it seems that the film will focus more on Spider-Man than Peter Parker, it is still unclear exactly what the story will entail, as there have been a variety of rumors suggesting a massive-scale adventure, as well as a scaled-back street-level story.
Given that Spider-Man: Brand New Day will take place between Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, the MCU could have a chance to redo the story Sam Raimi attempted in Spider-Man 3. This would allow Spider-Man: Brand New Day a lot of different story avenues, and a lot of chances to adapt parts of the comics, which may well mean it's the most likely avenue going forward - especially since it ties into the original Secret Wars comic, which also saw Spider-Man with a symbiote in his black suit storyline.
With Knull appearing in Venom: The Last Dance, he could cross paths with Spider-Man in the future.
Venom isn't the only introduced prospect for the villain of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, though, as Kingpin's MCU storyline in Daredevil: Born Again, with him becoming mayor and going after vigilantes, could bring him into conflict with Spider-Man, given the hero's status as one of New York's protectors. It'd make sense to capitalize on Matt Murdock's appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home by following up with him and Spider-Man actively interacting as heroes, even if Daredevil should have forgotten the hero's secret identity as a result of Doctor Strange's final memory spell.
This would allow Spider-Man and Daredevil's paths to cross once more, and could let Peter have a more grounded adventure in his home city - not to mention meetings with heroes, now that he's an older and more independent hero, which could let the character stretch his legs and address complaints he's been largely beholden to other heroes like Iron Man and Doctor Strange for most of his MCU story. However, until specific details are confirmed, the story for the impending Spider-Man: Brand New Day will remain a subject of debate.
How Spider-Man: Brand New Day Fits Into The MCU Phase 6
A Major Movie In The Multiverse Saga
With the July 31, 2026, release date, Spider-Man: Brand New Day finds itself squarely in the middle of the MCU's Phase 6, and one of the final films in the Multiverse Saga. In fact, the film is currently the only project scheduled between Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, making it most likely one of the most important projects to bridge the gap between the two films, but not a guarantee.
After Spider-Man: No Way Home's ending, many thought the fourth film could be more grounded, sticking to New York City and a street-level story, and while that can certainly still happen, the placement of Spider-Man: Brand New Day means it might have a much larger story and have a lasting impact on the MCU's Multiverse Saga, but Spider-Man is currently not confirmed for the Avengers: Doomsday cast, possibility indicating that Spider-Man: Brand New Day could go the street-level route, possibly following up the storylines introduced in Daredevil: Born Again.
