Samuel L. Jackson was recently cast in a spinoff of Taylor Sheridan's Tulsa King season 3 to introduce his character and set up the spinoff series.
Being part of a show like Tulsa King, which was created by Taylor Sheridan, is great for any actor. Sheridan's many shows almost always draw in huge numbers of viewers, and Tulsa King is one of the most popular and Samuel L. Jackson's best movies and shows speak for themselves, it's never a bad thing to sign on for a show that's almost guaranteed to be a hit. NOLA King could even continue one of the best trends in Jackson's career, and it may even sur one of the best movies he's ever made.
Samuel L. Jackson's NOLA King Role Continues His Trend Of Great Crime Drama Roles
Jackson Has Starred In Great Crime Movies Like Pulp Fiction, The Kill Room, & Goodfellas
Since 1990, when he appeared for a brief but memorable scene in Goodfellas, Samuel L. Jackson has starred in a huge number of great crime dramas. From Quentin Tarantino's Pulp Fiction to 2024's Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist, Jackson has basically made himself an icon of the crime drama genre. He's even been in every type of crime drama, from gangster movies like Jackie Brown to action thrillers like Damaged and even courtroom dramas like A Time to Kill. For the past 35 years, Samuel L. Jackson has utterly dominated the crime genre in every way possible.

Landman Season 2 & Other Taylor Sheridan Shows Are Defying A Frustrating Streaming TV Trend
A new Landman update proves that Yellowstone screenwriter Taylor Sheridan can overcome this frustrating trend of streaming TV shows slowing down.
Now, Jackson's role in Tulsa King and NOLA King are continuing his trend of appearing in great crime dramas. Even based on what little we know about his character and NOLA King as a whole, it seems that it will be yet another feather in Jackson's crime drama cap. With NOLA King on the horizon, it looks like Samuel L. Jackson's dominance of the crime genre is nowhere close to stopping. In fact, Jackson's role could actually become his best example of acting in a crime drama since Pulp Fiction, where he played Jules Winnfield opposite John Travolta.
NOLA King Sounds Like It Could Be Samuel L. Jackson's Best Gangster Role Since Pulp Fiction
NOLA King Will Make Jackson A Crime Boss, While Pulp Fiction Only Saw Him As A Hired Gun
Samuel L. Jackson's appearance in Tulsa King season 3 and subsequent starring role in NOLA King will continue his trend of starring in great crime dramas, and it may be his best role since Pulp Fiction. There are very few people who are better qualified to lead a gangster show than Jackson, and his filmography alone speaks for itself. Tulsa King is also wildly popular, though, and his appearance in Sylvester Stallone's show should help NOLA King have a built-in audience. The showrunner for Tulsa King, Dave Erickson, will also lead the production of NOLA King, meaning the same gripping storytelling will be present in both series.

NOLA King will also offer Samuel L. Jackson a big advantage over his iconic role in Pulp Fiction. Though Jules was a main character of Pulp Fiction and endlessly interesting, he was just hired muscle for Marsellus Wallace (Ving Rhames). NOLA King will give Jackson a chance to play a crime boss instead of an underling, and he certainly has the acting chops to turn Russell into one of his best characters. It's a position that's perfectly suited to Jackson's screen presence and intensity, and he should be capable of some truly impressive moments in the Tulsa King spinoff show.
