Capcom's Resident Evil 4 remake promises to reinvigorate the classic horror shooter's story and gameplay, and it may also bring about the return of the franchise's best character. The original RE4 released back in 2005, and its remake promises to modernize the game with gorgeous modern graphics and a more foreboding atmosphere. Staple characters like Leon, Ada, and Ashley are confirmed to return, but one minor Resident Evil 4 character could make a long-awaited reappearance too.
Considering the project's modern graphics and rewritten story, it seems that every Resident Evil 4 remake character will be given a fresh coat of paint. The heroic Leon S. Kennedy will be brought in line with the version of the character featured in 2019's Resident Evil 2 remake, with the charming and witty government agent seemingly receiving a healthy dose of experience and cynicism. ing characters Ashley Graham and Ada Wong have also been redesigned, with Resident Evil 4's new story potentially giving Ashley a more active and less cliché role than as a mere damsel in distress. However, the best character in Resident Evil could return, too, and it's a particularly exciting prospect.
Albert Wesker Has Been Forgotten By Resident Evil
Following a long absence from the series, the delightfully villainous Albert Wesker can finally make a grand return in the Resident Evil 4 remake. Albert Wesker isn't in Resident Evil Village, the franchise's most recent installment, and he actually hasn't played a prominent role in the series since 2009's Resident Evil 5. The franchise's sixth numbered entry dealt with the aftermath of Wesker's death, while RE7 and Village introduced brand-new villains like Eveline and Mother Miranda. The recent remakes of Resident Evil 2 and RE3 also, unfortunately, lacked Wesker since he didn't appear in the original version of either game, but the RE4 remake can finally bring him back.
Resident Evil 4 Remake Can Bring Back Albert Wesker
While Albert Wesker doesn't appear in the original Resident Evil 4, the bombastic bioweapon developer does feature in Ada Wong's bonus scenario Separate Ways. Wesker serves as Ada's radio during her mission, letting players fight for the antagonist rather than against him. The reimagined story of the Resident Evil 4 remake can incorporate Separate Ways into the main campaign or include it as a short bonus scenario, which would be Albert Wesker's first appearance in a Resident Evil story since 2009. Giving Wesker a more proactive role in RE4 could also set up a potential remake of Resident Evil 5, which brings the supervillain back as a primary antagonist.
Albert Wesker is one of the best characters in the Resident Evil universe, but the boisterous evildoer has sadly been absent from the franchise's last few installments. While he plays no role in the original game's main story, the Resident Evil 4 remake can bring back Wesker as part of Ada's bonus Separate Ways campaign. While many fans are no doubt excited to experience new Resident Evil 4 remake gameplay innovations, the return of Albert Wesker may be an even more exciting opportunity for the project.
