Resident Evil 4 Remake Demo Available Now

It was confirmed via the March 9, 2023 Capcom Spotlight that the anticipated demo for Resident Evil 4's remake is available now. Screen Rant's original story, which speculated on the demo's release date based on info gleaned from the Resident Evil 4 remake's ARG, continues below.

As the remake of Resident Evil 4 quickly approaches its release date, it may also be hinting at the timeframe for the release of the game's demo. Placing players back in the shoes of Leon Kennedy, Resident Evil 4 looks to continue the series' string of excellent remakes, with significant updates to the beloved classic in the form of enhanced gameplay, improved visuals, and an updated story.

As the game's March 24 release date draws closer, fans are on the lookout for the promised demo, which continues a great Resident Evil trend of providing short gameplay teasers before a game's release. Typically, these demos provide a small, isolated slice of the game, letting players get a feel for the release - which may prove especially helpful in the case of Resident Evil 4, as the game's heavier focus on third-person action may prove to be something of a departure from the series' more recent offering, Resident Evil Village. Although no release date for the demo has been officially announced, Capcom may be providing some big clues as the game's launch draws near.

The release date for the Resident Evil 4 remake's demo may be hinted at by a prerelease ARG. Hosted at characters outside of Resident Evil 4's main cast, the ARG seems to be updating daily, with room for at least a few more entries - which could neatly place its endpoint at the Capcom Showcase on March 9, and indicate a shadow drop of RE4's demo after the event.

Who Is Baby Eagle?

'Baby Eagle' clearly refers to Ashley Graham, the President's daughter who is kidnapped by the Los Illuminados cult in Resident Evil 4. The game starts with Leon Kennedy sent to a Spanish village full of Ganados, villagers infected by a parasite that turns them into mindless monsters, with the mission being to rescue Ashley and return her safely to her father. Resident Evil 4 remake trailers have already hinted that Ashley's gameplay will be changed and improved on the original title and the ARG suggests this could be expanded further.

RE4 Remake's Demo Will Be An Important Test For The Full Game

As the Resident Evil 4 remake is shaping up to make some significant departures from the original, the game's demo could be a very important litmus test for some players. As one of the series' most beloved entries, the original Resident Evil 4 leaves quite a lot for the remake to live up to, and it may be hard to escape its shadow with just visual updates. Luckily, Resident Evil 4 remake's gameplay changes seem to change up the game significantly, making a number of improvements while still managing to remain faithful. The demo, however, will mark potential players' first chance at getting a hands-on look.

The ARG for Resident Evil 4 remake, like any good ARG, seems to building up to something - in this case, a potential release of the game's demo after the March 9 Capcom Showcase. In the meantime, the Resident Evil 4 ARG remains a fun puzzle to work out, revealing auxiliary bits of the game's story ahead of launch and drumming up hype for the full release. Releasing on March 24, Resident Evil 4's remake looks to build upon the original in ambitious ways.
