This is incorrect, highly presumptuous, and thoroughly misconstrued. John Carpenter has explained in several interviews as well as BTS documentary footage what Michael is. Michael Myers is Evil personified. He is, "A Force of Nature." That is why he's called The Shape. He's like an entity or a indiscriminate tornado that kills. Carpenter left his backstory, reason, and explanations off the table. There is no, "explaining Michael." He is not cursed by an old Celtic summons called "Thorn." John Carpenter has absolutely NO intentions on explaining How or Why. One of mankind's greatest fears is of the unknown. It is unknown what Michael's motivation is. He has no motivation. He is just an instrument of Death. And that's terrifying. When forces of nature take control of a situation, whether it's a tornado, hurricane, tsunami, or anything else that's out of the control or prevention of mankind... It's terrifying. And all humanity can do is get out of its way, avoid it, and wait until the storm es over. Michael is that with the mask. He is that entity: The Shape. Unmasked he has his identity. You see his face of who he once was. But with the mask, and like the mask itself, he is void of expression and emotions. There's nothing within him. No conscience, no reason, not even remotely human. Purely and simply.... Evil.
