I will also say this, though - the Novels literaly saved my life. I was coming off of a bad Opiate addiction and all that could keep my mind occupied was going to work in the morning, and reading until I ed out at night. TDT gave me my first 3 months clean. And a new beginning on life.
Hearing that Flanagan is a recovering addict himself, and that he often uses his work to explore themes of addiction and recovery gives me hope. For me, Eddie's character arc is the most important aspect of the story.

King also praised the existing film before it premiered and stated that he felt starting the story "in medias res" was a brilliant way to do it, and blah blah blah.
He's not going to say "nah, I don't think this is it guys." no matter who is doing it.
I have zero confidence until we get a series that adapts all books into a season each (maybe combine SOS with WOLVES) and doesn't race-swap major characters. Idris Elba is one of my favorite actors, but casting him as Roland is very similar to casting Jason Statham as D'jango. The characters race IS important to the story. Roland is White. Susannah is Black. It's that simple.
