This Forgotten Sequel Kicked Off The Weirdest Stephen King Movie Subgenre 38 Years Ago
There hasn't been a good film version of 'Salems Lot" yet. Tobe Hooper's Mini series came closest but the Vampire was not Kurt Barlow of the book. James Mason was far from a bald imposing Straker and making the Jimmy Cody character into Susan's father took from the story I thought. Still, better than the others.
"Nobody Needs To See Carrie Again": Carrie Star Matthew Lillard Breaks Down Why Mike Flanagan Is Updating Stephen King's Story 50 Years Later
If nobody needs to see it again, write a different story, not one that rides on the coattails of an original (that doesn't need to be seen again) to draw a fan base that would read King's grocery list. Not original.
Humphrey Bogart's 1943 War Movie With 92% On RT Might Just Be One Of The Best WW2 Movies Ever Made
One of the best movies of the WWII era I've seen. Right up there with Bataan.
"Really Struck A Chord With A Lot Of People": Cold Case Revival Return Addressed By OG Star As They Reflect On Show's Fanbase
Excellent show. I'd love a reboot but it would need the original cast in early episodes to show us where they are and how they turned out.
Almost A Year Later, I'm Still Disappointed That Apple TV+ Canceled This Trippy Sci-Fi Show That Needed More Seasons
So I haven't seen it but watched the trailer. I immediately thought of The Twilight Zone episode called "The Parallel" with Steve Forrest. Guess that's not it as the article had the spoiler I didn't need but ....since I have that streaming service now, I'll watch the first season. Rapace is great in Sci/Fi roles....and any others I've seen her in.
Anya Taylor-Joy & Miles Teller Dig Deep Into The Gorge's Biggest Action Scene & Alternate Endings
Just watched this. Most entertaining Horror/Action film I've seen in a long time. Of course you have to suspend disbelief but that's the point of movies...they take you away from the vagaries of your normal life. Really fun and gripping movie
John Wayne Played A Real-Life Hero In This Western He Waited 15 Years To Make
True not Historically accurate but reflected the way it had been taught over the years. Much like "Custer's Last Stand". Which was more like the ending massacre in the film "Ft Apache", according to the Native American Warriors who were there. Just the same they were moments in America's History that happened. The Winners usually write the story and in Custer's story, the battle won led to the final push that ended the Plains War. Now all these years later, they are brought up to stir up more resentments, whish means we have learned precious little.
“I Sorta Hate Myself For Liking This”: Stephen King Gives Honest Review Of Taylor Sheridan’s 2024 Western Series
Landman is great but the vacuousness of the wife and daughter is almost too much to believe. I do hope it gets a second season. Oh..I've read and Loved Stephen King novels and anthologies since 1975, but really. .... Is he a film critic now too?
5 Stephen King Books That Deserve Anthologies After The Stand
"One For The Road" in SK's Night Shift gravies just one story of the aftermath of "Salem's Lot". It also alludes to other occasions after the original story that could be stand alone stories. Never mind the journeys of Ben Meats and Mark Petrie after leaving the town and then returning to finish it. "Salem's Lot" should be number one on this list.
The Institute Image: Stephen King's Thriller Series Adaptation Gets First Look
The Book was good. I was thinking of a connection to The Shop from "Firestarter". It had the same purpose as the Institute. At least it's new territory....not like another retelling of "Carrie" that is in production. Nothing new there. It's been done. Drop it.
New Sci-Fi TV Show Adapts The Book That Inspired The Stand (But Is Nothing Like The Stephen King Story)
Yes I forgot that one. I do think it paralleled "The Stand" but Macammon is a great author.
New Sci-Fi TV Show Adapts The Book That Inspired The Stand (But Is Nothing Like The Stephen King Story)
I read "Earth Abides" long ago and always thought it was the best depiction of societal collapse written, with "Malevil" and "Alas Babylon" up there with it. The difference is how we go out with a wimper in "Earth Abides", without the need for nuclear war to bring about our near total demise. Each chapter begins with how nature(plant and animal) deal with mans retreat from dominance. Brilliant story.
"I Know": Has The Walking Dead Finally Confirmed Daryl Dixon & Carol Are In Love?
I thought the age difference was greater but it was more the way she seemed to offer guidance and keep him on track. But hey....what I know about romance you should not consider "reliable and useful information". 😂
"I Know": Has The Walking Dead Finally Confirmed Daryl Dixon & Carol Are In Love?
I always thought she was more of a Mother figure to him. The romance angle is weird but....if they do that it will destroy the friendship.
10 Harsh Realities Of Rewatching The Original Halloween, 46 Years Later
Well this goes to prove you can find fault in anything if you want to. One thing is indeed true....today's audience would be truly offended by some of the film as they would by any film of that time p
This Jason Statham Movie In Netflix's Top 10 Was A Remake Of A Charles Bronson Thriller & Easily Beat The Original
Better than the original? The opening scene alone in the original is the best "Hit Man" scene in any film before or since. Rotten Tomatoes my @$$. Film value does not begin and end on this opinionated creation.
What Happened To Ben Mears After Salem’s Lot In Stephen King's Books
Only if King writes it.
Salem's Lot 2 Looks All But Confirmed After Huge Change To Stephen King's 49-Year-Old Story
The movie was too condensed without being able to include all the background and character development that made the book great. I didn't really like the first attempt with David Soul as Mears and Barlow looking like the beast from Nosferatu as opposed to the European dignified gentleman of the book. (It was one point the second attempt got right). A true film adaptation is probably a pipe dream.
Salem's Lot's 10 Biggest Changes To Stephen King’s Book
Agreed. Two hours was not enough to include the character development and back story that makes the book great. Some great parts but this summation is spot on about just a few of the changes and missing parts that were so very terrifying.
Salem's Lot Rotten Tomatoes Score Debuts With Lowest Of The 3 Stephen King Adaptations
It seems there is a dedicated effort to pan the film before we get a chance to view it. I know it won't be completely true to the book (the first and best King novel I've read) and the previous two (I don't count "Return to..") were disappointing attempts but hey, if King is behind it despite parts he its to not really like, them let's go and "quit with the negative waves Moriarty!".
