Malazan tale of the fallen should be included, filled with great memorable characters l, often morally gray with complex motives,cl leaving it up to the reader to form an opinion.l on them.

The world building is unique, filled with unique cultures, enormous history, mythology and philosophies.

It also didn't shy away from showing the horrors of war, clashes between believe systems and the toll it has on individuals and society.

Some of the novels end really gutwrenching.

It is not the most easy serie to read because of all the plotlines, the different novels often switch to complete new continents and introduced complete new set of characters, cultures and complete new storylines that on first glance don't seem to interconnect with the other novels, but do come together in the last novel.

Definitely worth it if you are looking for a adult, complex Fantasy serie that doesn't hold your hand, leaves the reader to make the connections, figure out what it all means and how it will end.

And filled with great dialogue and humour between characters.
