The issue was that they dropped the new season ALONGSIDE The Night Agent, which they knew was wildly successful and also shares some similarities with The Recruit. They should have waited a bit before dropping S2. That said, unfortunately, most shows get canceled after S2. Viewers have less reason to get attached to ANY Netflix show if they're doomed to end after two seasons.
