Conan is still the best. Unfortunately, it’s sequels not so much. It was the first film to bring the Eborian Age to life. Just read a few of the Conan novels to find out how the gap between Egyptians and Vikings needed to be filled with great story telling. The other author that celebrated the Age was Mika Waltary. His best known work was the novel, The Egyptian. Made into a film in the mid 50’s.

W.L. White was a war correspondent who wrote some of the best books concerning WWII and armed conflict. Several were made into films. Journey for Margret was an excellent book and film based on his adoption of an orphaned girl during the London Blitz that starred Robert Young. Back Down The Ridge followed a Korean casualty from fire fight to hospital to rehabilitation to home. The little known book was required reading for all the stars of Mash as it became one of the best programs on television. Sadly, the producers of Mash tried to thank White for his work and inspiration but they arrived at his office at the Emporia Gazette in Emporia, Kansas two months after he ed away.
