SJM doesn't do over complicated stories when it comes to her couples. She loves her mates and it shows in 16 books.

But we don't want SJM do break the mold. We read her for her fated mates trope she does it perfectly. If I want non mate love stories, I'll read other books. Also, it's her golden goose, she won't change that lol. Plus, if you've actually read the books you'd know Elain will always feel the mate tug and if Azriel finds his mate too, the "chosen" love would be too complicated
