TOTALLY CONVINCING!

. I grew up in a very tiny (pop: 40 adults & kids) and very isolated (Papua New Guinea highlands) Community. I can assure you nobody CARES how "eccentric" the doctor is -- so long as they HAVE ONE!

Our MD was a sort of "God"! Without him, any minor ailment COULD have actually been a rapidly fatal disease! Any small cut COULD have turned into serious blood poisoning, any mosquito bite could have meant deadly malaria!

I find the population's tolerance of Harry's foibles TOTALLY CONVINCING!!! AND ... makes me think one of the writers/production team had DIRECT experience of this, growing up!

SUPERB, INTELLIGENT, WORLD BUILDING DRAMA!

No doubt there are Moaning Minnies who are missing massacres and gunfights (though Ep 3 makes up for the former!) but I certainly appreciate the considered and detailed development of Dune-lore -- esp the BG Sisterhood and how it inveighled it's way to the heart of the Imperium, through the personalities and histories of just a few gifted and brilliant women.

As usual, Olivia Williams speaks volumes through her eyes, her expressions, and just through her posture!

The impatient should just watch each episode three times -- they will get more out of it each time and be begging for the second series to start ASAP.

Let's hope HBO has the courage to commit to a 2nd series straight away and not lose this GREATEST of Dune histories!
