At this point I wish they wouldn't even tell us these shows are inspired by manga. Just ruins the whole vibe. You're excited to see a live action version but it might as well be cheap imitation crab. Good enough when you just want to taste but looking for the real thing? Don't waste your time.

It's not a retcon it was fans that took the text too literally when trying to understand the mangekyo. It was always about intense emotion and ion. But because it's tied to the curse of hated they've assumed it means it only comes from tragedy.

Please we need a Land of the Lustrous season 2. The manga is excellent and the anime really brings it to life in a unique way. The 3D animation is one of the few that I truly enjoy it's a fantastic project.
