While they might be the most powerful combination of "sugar, spice, and everything nice" that Chemical X ever helped create, the Powerpuff Girls wouldn't stand a chance against their anime counterparts the Powerpuff Girls Z.
Like the original trio, of Megumu Ishiguro's Powerpuff Girls Z also obtained their special powers as a result of Professor Utonium's laboratory accident. Whereas the unplanned addition of Chemical X into Professor Utonium's concoction of spice, sweets, and niceness resulted in the creation of the original Powerpuff Girls Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup; in the anime version, it was the accidental combination of a "Big Lucky Bun" into a vat of Chemical X that transformed it into the super-power inducing Chemical Z. When Professor Utonium's son Ken used Chemical Z to blast a climate-changing iceberg, the fallout from the explosion zapped middle school classmates Momoko, Miyaoko, and Kaoru; instantly changing them into super-powered heroes known as Hyper Blossom, Rolling Bubbles, and Powered Buttercup.
Outside the fact that the creation of the anime team was completely random, whereas the original team was created as the result of Professor Utonium's plan to create the "perfect little girl," there's no obvious difference between the teams in of power and abilities. The of both teams have super strength and speed, the ability to fly, and other-worldly resistance to physical attacks and punishment. However, a closer analysis of both teams' abilities, experience, and origins shows that Powerpuff Girls Z is the superior team. A team the originals should aspire to be one day, but clearly outmatched in their present form.
It's Sugar And Spice Versus Age And Experience
The first factor ing a Powerpuff Girls Z win is age. The original team are in kindergarten. The anime team is in middle school. At the very least there is a six-year difference in age between the team. Even without superpowers, the anime team can physically overpower the original Powerpuff Girls team. That would not change because they now are superheroes. The age difference will increase the divide between the two when it comes to pure power generation. Second, in addition to their inherent abilities, each member of the anime team has a weapon. Hyper Blossom has shooting yo-yos she can deploy in both short and long-range attacks, as well as use to tie up opponents. Rolling Bubbles has a bubble wand that she can use to strike opponents or blow bubbles from. The bubbles can either strike an opponent, trap or engulf them, or as a protective cushion against an opponent's attack. Lastly, Powered Buttercup has an oversized hammer, called "Megaton Dunk" that she can use to batter opponents or parry their strikes.
But the most important difference is the fact that the anime team was not the realization of Professor Utonium's experiment. They are regular teenagers dealing with life before they became the Powerpuff Girls Z. That is, they bring all their life experiences into their super-hero persona. For instance, Hyper Blossom and Powered Buttercup have siblings, and Rolling Bubbles is so pretty she always has an army of boys chasing after her. These experience will surely influence their actions as the Powerpuff Girls Z. It will make them more resilient mentally, more determined to overcome hardship, and basically tougher. Conversely, the Powerpuff Girls have no similar wealth of experience or opportunity for personal growth. Indeed, outside their crime-fighting, they are still bound by the rules society places on kindergarten-aged children. So even if the original Powerpuff Girls were the more powerful team, that power wouldn't be able to overcome the other intangibles their elder sisters bring to the table.
