Mighty Morphin Power Rangers’ Green Ranger may be the saga’s most famous Power Ranger, yet it is not Tommy Oliver’s most powerful transformation. Tommy was introduced in Mighty Morphin season 1 as the evil Green Ranger, someone who was captured by Rita Repulsa and brainwashed into becoming a villain. After Mighty Morphin season 1, Tommy went on to appear in multiple Power Rangers seasons and led four different Power Rangers teams.

In addition, Power Rangers’ power system is complicated, as each series tends to work as a standalone story. However, some key scenes help decipher how powerful Tommy Oliver was in each Power Rangers season.

The Green Ranger Was Technically Tommy’s Weakest Power Rangers Form

As iconic as Mighty Morphin Power Rangers’ Green Ranger is, it was never the strongest Tommy Oliver Power Rangers form. In fact, the Green Ranger is technically the weakest Tommy transformation when it comes to Power Rangers lore. After losing his Green Ranger powers, Tommy was given the White Light to become Mighty Morphin’s White Ranger. Zordon specifically said that the White Ranger was stronger than the Green Ranger. Likewise, the Zeo crystals are arguably the greatest source of power in the Power Rangers universe. As the theme song put it, the Zeo Power Rangers were “stronger than before.” As such, Zeo Ranger 5 Red was also stronger than the Green Ranger.

Whether the Turbo Power Rangers were stronger than the Zeo Power Rangers is open for debate, although the Turbo Zords are canonically more powerful than the Zeo Zords. Regardless, Tommy’s Turbo Red Ranger form was at least more efficient than his Zeo transformation, as the Zeo crystals were a highly dangerous source of power. Finally, legacy Power Rangers teams tend to be more powerful than the original, as the very scale of the newer Power Rangers seasons is usually bigger. Assuming that the Black Dino Thunder is also stronger than the Green Ranger, Tommy Oliver’s first Power Rangers form was his weakest.

Which Tommy Oliver Power Rangers Form Was The Strongest?

The Dino Thunder Rangers were extremely powerful, especially the two Rangers who ed the team afterward – Th Black Ranger and the White Ranger. However, going back to the Zordon Era and the Zeo crystals lore, it is difficult not to think of the Zeo Rangers as the strongest Power Rangers team. The Zeo crystals were so powerful that they had to be kept hidden, something that the Power Rangers comics have recently delved into. Right until Mighty Morphin Power Rangers ended, Tommy’s White Ranger was by far the strongest Ranger in the saga. Zeo’s Red Ranger, however, took that spot.

The Turbo powers, despite being described by Zordon as the next step in the Power Rangers’ evolution, were likely not as strong as the Zeo powers. The best possible in-universe explanation as to why the Power Rangers “shifted into Turbo” is that the Zeo powers were too dangerous in the long term. Therefore, Power Rangers Zeo’s Red Ranger, also known as Zeo Ranger 5 Red, is likely Tommy Oliver’s strongest Power Rangers form.
