With the release of The Glory of Team Rocket in Japan, we now have a first look at all the new Secret Rare cards in the next Pokémon TCG set. One of the most highly anticipated sets in recent memory, The Glory of Team Rocket is a Japanese set that fully focuses on Trainer's Pokémon cards involving Team Rocket. While other trainers have only a handful of Pokémon cards, there are dozens of Team Rocket's Pokémon, providing tons of new deck options to choose from.

Photos of Secret Rares for The Glory of Team Rocket set have appeared online (via Pokébeach), showcasing the newest chase cards for the Pokémon Trading Card Game. The new set will include multiple versions of Team Rocket's Mewtwo ex, including a Special Illustration Rare card that shows Mewtwo hovering menacingly over a smug Giovanni. Other highlights include Team Rocket's Moltres ex and Team Rocket's Crobat ex. The new cards will be released as part of the Destined Rivals set internationally.

What Are The Chase Cards In The Glory Of Team Rocket?

Highlight Cards Include Team Rocket's Mewtwo Ex, Team Rocket's Moltres Ex

The major chase card for the new set will be Team Rocket's Mewtwo ex, which has an attack that deals a whopping 280 damage but at the cost of discarding two Energy. With a Full Art card, a Gold Rare card, and a Special Illustration Rare variant, this card is set to be the major chase card of the set. Additionally, Team Rocket's Moltres ex is also set to be a major chase card with both a Full Art and Special Illustration Rare variant.

Pokémon TCG Reveals Team Rocket's Moltres ex, With a Devastating New Kind of Move

Pokémon Trading Card Game just introduced its most disruptive new Team Rocket card yet, with Moltres doing something not recently seen in the game.

In of non-Special Illustration Rare cards, some of our standout favorites include the new Kangaskhan card, which showcases the Pokémon interacting with a Quagsire on the side of the road, and Team Rocket's Spidops, which looks particularly sinister and deadly as it pulls some of its webs taut. Team Rocket's Spidops is a particularly important card for Team Rocket Mewtwo ex decks as it has an energy retrieval ability that pulls discarded energy out of the discard pile.

Our Take: Team Rocket Is Blasting Off (In Popularity) Again

There Are Plenty Of Chase Cards In This Set That Should Help Make Glory Of Team Rocket A Hot Commodity

Team Rocket's Persian ex from the Japanese Glory of Team Rocket Pokémon TCG set.

While the new set doesn't have Jessie and James from the anime (likely because those characters are no longer featured in the TV show), there's still enough nostalgia and cool cards to keep fans very interested in the set. The Pokémon TCG is currently going through some major demand issues, and I don't think it's going to get any better when these cards come out as part of Destined Rivals. Hopefully, the Pokémon TCG has a plan to get these cards in the hands of fans, or otherwise, we could see some of these cards sell for criminally high prices.
