Max's new series which was originally conceived as an ER revival, but failed, unfolds during one hour of a single ER shift, the semi-real-time pace of the series making it feel even more immersive.
The Pitt, which got a solid Rotten Tomatoes score ahead of its debut, is also different from other medical dramas in that if focuses less on the intertwined lives and romances of the doctors, but on the hectic and stressful nature of being a modern-day healthcare worker. The intensity of the trauma center emergency room is put front and center in the medical drama, rather than the personal drama. As such, the actors need to bring their A-game and do a lot of character work in shorts bursts of screentime, and The Pitt's cast does exactly that.
