Sterling K. Brown stars as a Secret Service agent accused of murder in the first trailer for Paradise, which serves as a This Is Us reunion. Created by Dan Fogelman, the Hulu series features Brown in the lead role after his memorable turn as Randall Pearson in This Is Us, which Fogelman also created. Paradise, which also stars James Marsden, Krys Marshall, Julianne Nicholson, and Sarah Shahi, is built around a murder that rocks an idyllic community, with Brown's character quickly becoming a suspect as a far more sinister plot unfolds.

Hulu now shares the first trailer for Paradise, teasing lots of action, intrigue, and a political conspiracy in the thriller series. The trailer features Brown's character, Xavier Collins, being questioned about the murder of a former president he was seemingly entrusted to protect. Marsden, it's revealed, will be playing President Cal Bradford, who meets a surprising and mysterious end. A shocking reveal arrives toward the end of the trailer, with Shahi's character covertly communicating with Xavier as he is interrogated. Check out the trailer and official synopsis below:

Paradise is set in a serene, wealthy community inhabited by some of the world's most prominent individuals. But this tranquility explodes when a shocking murder occurs and a high stakes investigation unfolds

What The Paradise Trailer Reveals About The Show

Not Everyone Is Who They Seem

The Paradise trailer raises more questions than it answers, particularly when it comes to the show's timeline. Though it's possible all the events in the trailer will play out in a linear fashion, it looks as if the show could jump between the interrogation scenes and Collins' time before the murder, as is typical of murder mystery plots. Collins' being entrusted with "top secret national security information" also appears to play a crucial role in the show, and it's likely connected to the ex-president's death.

Shahi's character, who isn't yet named, also appears to be pursuing his own agenda. Her telling Collins to "say yes" to whether part of him is happy that Cal is dead could mean that Shahi's character has insight into what's really going on with the murder. Though only briefly featured in the trailer, Collins' family will seemingly find themselves in the crossfire in Paradise as he finds himself more fully pulled into whatever sinister plot is being carried out.

In addition to This Is Us, Brown appeared in projects like Black Panther (2018), The Predator (2018), Waves (2019), and the acclaimed American Fiction (2023).

Our Take On Paradise's New Trailer

The Hulu Show Will Give Sterling K. Brown A Chance To Shine

Sterling K Brown being questioned under bright lights in Paradise

Brown has consistently been the best part of the projects he's in, and Randall was a highlight of the This Is Us cast of characters. Though he often plays ing roles, Paradise will give Brown a chance to shine as a leading man. With This Is Us having been a popular show throughout its run, Fogelman clearly knows how to craft a compelling narrative with interesting characters, suggesting that Paradise is in good hands. It remains to be seen how the Hulu series will fare with audiences, but there's certainly reason to be excited.

Paradise premieres on Hulu on January 28, 2025.
