Luckily, there are options to watch all of them from the comfort of your home. The rest can be rented or purchased online through VOD services. Here is how to stream each of the 97th Academy Award nominees for Best Picture.

Emilia Pérez is the most nominated film at the 97th Academy Awards. Netflix earned 13 nominations for the film, which is now available to stream on their service. The French-produced musical about a Mexican cartel leader who goes into hiding by transitioning into a woman is also the most controversial of the Best Picture nominees this year. Several advocacy groups have condemned the film, as well as the racially charged social media posts of star Karla Sofía Gascón. Despite those potential set-backs, the film has maintained momentum in some key races, making Emilia Pérez a must-watch ahead of the ceremony.

Denis Villeneuve's adaptation of Frank Herbert' immortal sci-fi epic was so massive that it required two parts, with both films earning nominations for Best Picture. The box-office hit hasn't been able to maintain award season buzz, however, with Villeneuve not even making the cut for Best Director — although fans of the film can take solace in Timothée Chalamet potentially winning Best Actor for his work in A Complete Unknown. Lovers of sci-fi can check out Dune: Part Two (as well as Dune: Part One and the spin-off show Dune: Prophecy) on Max.

The Substance is one of 2024's most distinctive horror films and stands out as one of the few examples of the genre breaking through at the Academy. Demi Moore delivers a stunning performance as an aging star willing to do anything to regain her youth, with The Substance elevating her to front-runner status in the Best Actress race. The Substance is currently streaming on Mubi, who also distributed the film theatrically. The Substance isn't for the faint of heart, but it's one of the most impressive and memorable films among the 97th Best Picture nominees.

While Nickel Boys isn't available on streaming at the time of this writing, the film will be available on MGM+ on February 28, days before the award ceremony on March 2. Directed by RaMell Ross, Nickel Boys is a heartbreaking exploration of racism from a first-person POV. Nickel Boys was distributed by Amazon MGM Studios, making the decision to bring it to MGM+ ahead of the Oscars a clever way to keep the film in the minds of viewers. The inventive film is one of the most impressive of the Best Picture nominees and well worth checking out.

All Ten Films Can Be Rented Or Purchased Digitally

There are five other nominees for Best Picture at the 97th Academy Awards, none of which are available through streaming services at the time of writing. However, all ten nominees are available for digital rental or purchase through Video On Demand, whether that be with Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, or Fandango at Home. Similarly, Sony's deal with Netflix makes it the likely streaming home for I'm Still Here, although no date for that arrival has been given. Anora has been confirmed to be coming Hulu March 17. Produced by Disney’s Searchlight Pictures, A Complete Unknown will also presumably come to Hulu, although the date hasn't been announced. Wicked is set to debut on Peacock on March 21, alongside a good amount of bonus content and a sing-along version of the film. Still, there are ways (and plenty of reasons) to check out all of the 97th Oscar's Best Pictures nominees from home.
