Warning: Slight Spoilers For Late Content in One-Punch ManWith season 3 of quality between the seasons seemed to take a dip, the most noteworthy of differences being the fight scenes' fluidity and lack of detail in comparison to the previous studio's handiwork.

As the series preps to take on the next major arc in One-Punch Man, those visual elements that had earned the anime widespread praise are going to be more important than ever. The Hero Association is going to clash with the Monster Association, leading to many battles not just with Saitama at the helm, but many of the characters that have been introduced throughout the story. While season 2 could get away with being mainly narrative-driven, J.C. Staff is going to need to take some creative liberties when it comes to animating One-Punch Man's next arc.

Capturing the Essence of What Makes Shōnen so Exciting

In a short clip circulating online, a fan’s vision gives everyone a glimpse of what could lead to one of the most paramount moments to be animated. Mastar Media captures similar vibes to the first season, focusing on the confrontation between Saitama and a grueling, but wickedly rendered enemy done justice by the way it is animated. Mastar’s short showcased incredible insight and potential from a small team. It should only go to show that such a vision is only as limited as its creative foresight. What made season 1 so popular was Madhouse and Shingo Natsume’s direction in how the scenes were visualized, finalized, then released as the resplendent product fans know today.

Narrative is Important, But So Are the Epic Fight Scenes Static in ONE's Story

While One-Punch Man does have an interesting narrative to tell, it’s a fight-intensive series, and its anime adaptation should probably reflect that. What made the anime stand out so much in its first season was Madhouse’s talent that utilized unique camera angles and depth of the battles in addition to animating the unique faces ONE and Yusuke Marata are known for. Something woefully missing in the second season as it changed studios, staff, and direction to quickly push out a continuation while fans were still excited.

One of the anime’s major charms was the realization that One-Punch Man’s fights and stellar scenes could be brought to life. While season 2 was able due to the source’s interesting narrative, it doesn’t exude the same excitement and intensity that fans were looking forward to seeing return. If the Monster Association arc is to succeed, One-Punch Man’s next season will need to rekindle that same energy that had ignited fans once before.
