The streaming release date for Nosferatu cast includes Lily-Rose Depp as Ellen Hutter, Nicholas Hoult as Thomas Hutter, Bill Skarsgård as Count Orlok, and Willem Dafoe as Professor Albin Eberhart von Franz.

Per Variety, Nosferatu is set to begin streaming on Peacock on February 21. Peacock will also feature Robert Eggers' extended cut of the movie, which has so far never played in theaters. This news comes nearly two months after the theatrical debut of the vampire movie on Christmas Day in 2024. The title is already available on video on demand platforms as of January 21, where it is still at a price point of $19.99 for rentals and $24.99 for purchases.

What This Means For Nosferatu

It Could Thrive In Spite Of An Imperfect Streaming Release Date

At first glance, the streaming release date of the Nosferatu remake is not necessarily ideal. It comes the week after Valentine's Day. If it had come a week earlier, it could have been better timed to highlight the darkly romantic aspects of the movie, which has a story that reflects on many themes around seduction and marriage. It will also debut on the same day as the theatrical debut of The Monkey, which is a Stephen King adaptation from Longlegs director Osgood Perkins. Combining those two genre powerhouses could make it the more compelling option for horror fans that weekend.

[Nosferatu earned] a Certified Fresh score of 85% on Rotten Tomatoes...

However, the Eggers movie has a proven appeal that could help it overcome these obstacles. Nosferatu reviews have earned it glowing scores across the board, including a Certified Fresh score of 85% on Rotten Tomatoes with a similarly Fresh 73% audience score. Additionally, the movie was a box office hit, so far grossing $176.5 million against its $50 million budget, a total that makes it the third highest-grossing horror movie of the year behind A Quiet Place: Day One ($261.9 million) and Alien: Romulus ($350.9 million).

Our Take On The Nosferatu Streaming Release Date

It Is Well Timed In Another Way

Lily-Rose Depp as Ellen holding flowers in Nosferatu

While Nosferatu will likely have no trouble continuing its successful run into the streaming sphere, it will likely benefit from landing during the 2024-2025 awards season as it continues through the Academy Awards presentation on March 2. This streaming release gives it more than a full week during which viewers can catch up with it before the Oscars, and it could receive an additional boost if it wins one or more of the awards for which it is nominated, which also include Best Costume Design and Best Makeup and Hairstyling.
