PlayStation 5 version, alongside remasters for both entries in the series and their respective DLC offerings.
The PlayStation 5 remasters boast several neat bells and whistles. Most notably, Team Ninja equipped the Nioh remaster with a Photo Mode. Cross-save functionality for Nioh 2 between PS4 and PS5 was also added to the mix. It stands to reason, then, that the remasters are now the best way for PlayStation players to explore these particular Soulslike adventures. The new releases are bittersweet in a way, however, given Team Ninja's claim that Nioh 2 will count as the franchise's last entry.
At present, Steam reviews of Nioh 2 - The Complete Edition sit at a "Mostly Positive" rating of 72 percent. Yet, there are a plethora of mixed and negative reviews, the vast majority of which express dismay at the game's performance. One popular review tells fans to " for now" if they don't have a controller, as there's currently no keyboard , or want to play on max settings. Another notes that frames are known to drop between 15 and 20 frames per second. There are still a contingent of players leaving positive reviews, however. Such players either haven't encountered any issues or the problems are so minimal that the otherwise great experience doesn't seem tarnished by performance woes. According to PCGamesN, Koei Tecmo has since released a statement saying it's "actively working on several updates" for the Steam version.
Team Ninja's responsiveness in the past to Nioh 2-related issues bodes well for PC players eager to see bug fixes and other updates implemented to improve the game. However, when patches of this nature will begin going live presently remains to be seen, since neither Team Ninja nor Koei Tecmo have publicly shared specifics.
Though the developer has made it clear that there isn't another Nioh installment in the works, fans remain in the dark about what kind of project Team Ninja plans to pursue next. Series director Fumihiko Yasuda recently told Japanese publication Famitsu that multiple projects are scheduled to enter full production this year. But what they may entail is anyone's guess for the time being.
Nioh 2 is out now on PC, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5 platforms.
