The Jordan Challenge will return in Michael Jordan as the NBA 2K23 cover star, and the game promises to pay tribute to the Chicago Bulls icon.

Jordan's fame and skill has logically led to repeated NBA 2K appearances, with the superstar appearing as a cover athlete for NBA 2K11, NBA 2K12 and NBA 2K16. Now Jordan will return as an NBA 2K23 cover athlete, as an homage to the number Jordan wore with the Chicago Bulls.

A deep dive into NBA 2K23's Jordan Challenges mode has now been provided by 2K Sports. The game modem first introduced back in NBA 2K11, tasks players with recreating some of Air Jordan's most impressive and memorable feats on the basketball court. The Jordan Challenges featured in NBA 2K23 will recreate all 10 of the original moments and add five more, with modern hardware creating an even more immersive and realistic experience. Each challenge will include a pre-game interview with a key player, a video filter that simulates 1980s and 90s television, gameplay changes that fit the era and style upgrades for icon players like Magic Johnson and Larry Bird.

NBA 2K23 Pays Tribute To Basketball's Biggest Superstar

While the game will clear pay tribute to the legendary Michael Jordan, other NBA 2K23 cover athletes will be featured across the game's various different editions. Air Jordan himself will appear on the Championship and the Michael Jordan editions of the game, which are special editions offered at a high price point. Meanwhile, the standard and special digital deluxe editions of the game will put Phoenix Suns shooting guard Devin Booker in the spotlight. Finally, a alternate cover for the standard edition of NBA 2K23 will feature WNBA icons Diana Taurasi and Sue Bird.

Thanks to its special edition covers and returning Jordan Challenges, NBA 2K23 will be a true love letter to the basketball icon's substantial legacy.
