Includes MASSIVE SPOILERS for all Cosmere books, including The Lost Metal and Wind and Truth!

Brandon Sanderson's books, and due to changes from Wind and Truth, it seems more likely than ever that they'll sync up interestingly.

For the first time since the Cosmere universe began with Elantris in 2005, we know how the two series connect to each other chronologically. The Stormlight Archive's timeline has been revealed in regards to Mistborn, with Kelsier even appearing in a scene at the end of the book. With Brandon Sanderson revealing that Mistborn Era 3 will occur about fifty years after the end of Era 2, it seems like the Ghostbloods trilogy will either line up or occur right before The Stormlight Archive Arc 2, meaning there's potential for prominent crossovers, as well as references to other books.

9 Harmony Will Have To Prepare For Odium's Big Change

Retribution Is A Major Threat To The Entire Cosmere

Prior to Wind and Truth, Harmony was the most Invested being in the Cosmere, meaning, despite his limited control over the Shards of Ruin and Preservation, he had access to a level of power others might not have. Now, Odium, who seems to be the most dangerous god in Brandon Sanderson's universe, has acquired a second Shard of his own, and though this could be a weakness for him eventually, it has the potential to be a drastic threat. Wind and Truth's ending saw every Shard in the Cosmere turn its attention to Roshar, and that will undoubtedly include Harmony.

8 Dlavil Will React To His Sister's Fate From Wind And Truth

Shallan Killed Iyatil, Eliminating The Ghostbloods Leadership On Roshar

Dlavil is a member of the Ghostbloods, whom we met in The Lost Metal, and his plot in the Cosmere is revealed in Wind and Truth. Shallan Davar killed Iyatil, the leader of the Ghostbloods on Roshar and Dlavil's brother, and though she formed a temporary truce with Kelsier, he made it clear that Dlavil would be coming after her. Given that the title of Mistborn Era 3's trilogy is Ghostbloods, Dlavil could appear or be mentioned. He's not immortal, but given that he's a worldhopper, he's likely to continue playing a role in Cosmere books.

All Bets Are Off For The Fantasy Genre If Even These 2 Adaptations Couldn't Get Made

Two major fantasy adaptations have been canceled, and it sets a bad precedent for other titles in the genre. Here's our current assessment.

7 Autonomy Will Continue To Cause Problems For Scadrial

Autonomy Will Return After Mistborn Era 2

Autonomy in White Sand by Brandon Sanderson

Autonomy was the primary antagonist of the Wax & Wayne series, but she's not from Scadrial. She's the Shard of the planet Taldain, the world in which White Sand is set, and increased technology on Scadrial will continue to provoke her, causing her to launch her next assault. Waxillium and Wayne prevented her bomb attack on Elendel, but it's made apparent that her return is inevitable. She'll likely be the primary antagonist of Era 3 once again, pushing the Cosmere's Shards narrative further along as she and Harmony, or maybe Discord, clash.

Brandon Sanderson is working on a novelization of White Sand, which could provide more insight into Autonomy.

6 Scadrial's Technological Advancements Will Grow Through Worldhoppers

The Integration Of Magic & Technology Is Tied To The Cosmere's Overarching Narrative

Since The Bands of Mourning offered readers our first glimpse at Southern Scadrial, it's become increasingly apparent that technology is a major factor in the Cosmere's narrative. The Malwish utilize technology that feels similar to the fabrial devices used on Roshar, though by harnessing the Mistborn magic system instead of Stormlight. It seems clear that worldhoppers have a role in technological developments throughout the Cosmere, and it will be fascinating to see how these innovations impact the Cosmere's future. We know that Ghostbloods is going to involve early computer-age tech, and the Allomantic involvement will be intriguing to learn about.

5 Kelsier & The Ghostbloods Will Protect Scadrial From The Cosmere

Kelsier Could Recruit More Ghostbloods From Across The Cosmere

After returning in Mistborn: Secret History, Kelsier has risen to prominence as a character throughout the Cosmere. He played a prominent role in pulling strings on Roshar throughout Arc 1 of The Stormlight Archive, even appearing at the feast where Gavilar was murdered. Now that Stormlight is gone from Roshar, he'll turn his full focus back to Scadrial, where his goals appear to be protecting the planet from the rest of the Cosmere. As for Cosmere connections, it will be interesting to see if more characters from other books his ranks, as Shai (Moonlight) did in Era 2.

4 Ulaam Can Return After Tress Of The Emerald Sea

Ulaam Is On Scadrial At The End Of Wind And Truth

Tress watches Hoid and the Sorceress battle with AonDor magic

Ulaam was first introduced in The Lost Metal, but he was featured most prominently in Tress of the Emerald Sea. He's a kandra from Scadrial, and he was shown to be back on the planet in Mistborn Era 2 and also in Wind and Truth, where he helped Hoid recover his body from Roshar. Ulaam could continue to appear in Era 3, potentially in a more prominent role, especially now that he has some fun lore behind him from his adventures on the Crow's Song on Lumar.

3 The Stormlight Archive Characters Could Make An Appearance

Multiple Stormlight Archive Characters Are Off-World Right Now

Following Wind and Truth's ending, worldhoppers from The Stormlight Archive are less likely, as the planet is blocked off from Shadesmar. That said, there are a number of characters who were already in Shadesmar when the book ended, and Shards who could appear in Mistborn. Shallan won't want to spend too much time on other planets, as it's time she'll lose with Adolin, but she may be forced out of Shadesmar for a brief time in order to then make her way back. Given that Kelsier is her main off-world connection, her appearance wouldn't be impossible.

"One Excellent Fantasy Show": I'm So Here For A Mistborn Adaptation Copying This Series Brandon Sanderson Loves

Brandon Sanderson thinks one fantasy TV show is getting the genre right, and I’d love to see Mistborn take a leaf out of the Netflix series’ book.

Sigzil was on his way off Roshar to prepare for his journey that would eventually lead to The Sunlit Man, but that doesn't mean he can't make some stops along the way, making him a candidate, especially given that Hoid abruptly left him with the Dawnshard and Hoid is currently on Scadrial. Cultivation and Retribution are the Shards who could potentially make appearances, with Cultivation seeming a bit more likely, as Retribution will likely be kept a mystery until arc 2 of The Stormlight Archive.

2 Mistborn Era 3 Can Tell Us More About The Seventeenth Shard

Demoux Still Doesn't Know Kelsier Is Alive Again

Baon in White Sand by Brandon Sanderson

Wind and Truth saw the three of the Seventeenth Shard who'd been traveling the planet finally depart. Their goal was to find Hoid, who, as I mentioned, is back on Scadrial. If they pick up the trail, that'll be the place they head. The Seventeenth Shard we know are as follows: Galladon from Elantris, Demoux from Mistborn Era 1, and Baon from White Sand. Notably, Demoux was a prominent Kelsier follower in the original Mistborn trilogy, and he still doesn't know that his old leader has returned from the grave. That reunion would surely be interesting.

1 Hoid Can Coordinate With Harmony After Wind And Truth's Ending

Hoid & Harmony Need From Other Shards

After Wind and Truth, Hoid and Harmony have lots to talk about. Harmony doesn't mention Retribution in Mistborn Era 2 despite knowing the entire time, but he's surely going to, now that it's all been revealed to readers. He and Hoid will have to begin working together to prepare for what's coming, as they had been previously. The pair worked together to request aid from the other Shards of the Cosmere, which is shown in the epigraphs of The Stormlight Archive, but it turned out to be rather unhelpful.

It's possible that, now that Odium has become Retribution, the other Shards will be much more cooperative in uniting against him. Hoid and Harmony seem to be the best chances against Retribution, so it'll be interesting to see them collaborating, especially with Kelsier being another party. Kelsier and Hoid had something of a rivalry in Secret History, making that another Mistborn reunion to look forward to.
